You know, a lot of people may think I'm just being a sunshine pumper, but I really don't think we are doing too bad.  I know this is not the style of play we are used to seeing, especially in the Big XII, but I like it.  The style of football these guys are bringing in here is fundamental strategic football.  It requires hard nosed, disciplined, and smart players who execute.  Have we had problems with that this year, yes.  But the team has bought in.  And I think things are only going to get better.

I for one like this style of football.  No it isn't the up-tempo, instant gratification, high scoring games a lot of people want, but I like it.  This is fundamental and strategic football, where your defense will make or break you.  Your offense is there to grind it out, and when you have lured the competition to sleep or made them punch drunk, you pull up and go over top.  It's the kind of football where you are playing chess with your opponent, needing to win the field position battle and execute in all facets of the game.  Where you need your QB to be the field general who keeps his composure and is ok with punting the ball to pin your opponent down to win the next battle.  I think Swoopes has shown he is that guy.  While he is raw, he has shown that potential and has managed everything thrown at him very well.

I know a lot of people may not agree with me.  But I like this style of football.  It's a chess match, where a smart and disciplined team is a hard team to beat, and I think CFS is getting us there.  We have a little ways to go still, but I like the direction.  But that's just me and my opinion, and the type of football I like to see.

Vince Young (2003) - 60.5%, 269 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT    QB  130

Colt McCoy (2006) - 64.4%, 456 yards, 6 TD, 1 INT    QB rating 161

Tyrone Swoopes (2014) - 63.6%, 590 yards, 5 TD, 1 INT   QB rating 128

Simms  117

Major   147

Keep in mind all others are full year while Swoopes is only 3 games. . .

Just an FYI but to get a bit more context on the numbers. . . .

Just me but I'm projecting Swoopes to finish in the 135 range as the playbook opens up for him more and more each game.

Watson did say yesterday that he has been “amazed†at TS' weekly progress.

I like whatever style results in a W.

We're gonna have to play ball-control against Baylor. The fewer opportunities for their offense, the better.

Agreed. I think the same goes for OU. UT is also going to have to take advantage of every offensive opportunity the get and not leave any points on the field.
