It certainly appears as though USC is going to stick with Orgeron though. No way Sumlin stays in CS if that job is actually available. Still think he could leave for the NFL (Texans maybe) if they look his way.
Sumlin has certainly done a great job parlaying players other coaches left him into success. And he has capitalized on that in order to get better jobs and raises. But we will see next year what he's going to do without JFF, Evans and Sherm's o-line recruits. A team that might only win 8 games this year WITH all those guys. If he can get to 8 wins next season he will probably deserve another raise, but instead they'll probably be trying to run him out of town.
That is something I look forward to find out. Everywhere he has been, he has coached and won with others recruits. We know he can recruit highly regarded players, but so can Mack, but can he evaluate players? I'm not trying to downgrade him or his coaching abilities, it's just interesting that he has never been around one place to really develop the players he bring in.He is recruiting well, but can he win with them? Also if we make a great hire I think that will stop a lot of their momentum. Morris or Briles would do well there
No insider information, but he was said to be USC's runaway choice and now there is so much pushback from former USC coaches, players and alums to keep Orgeron that I think he read the tea leaves and decided to get a raise out of the rumors.Longviewllobo you think he agreed because USC is staying with Orgeron?
If I'm Morris I'm pounding the pavement as it pertains to the Texas job. I'm doing whatever I can to get my name out there. It's probably a long shot, but if Saban says no and the search starts over I'd want to be the guy who's been expressing the most interest.I think Morris would do well at Aggy or in Austin, Briles also
