Sumlin lobbied hard for USC job

not surprised. talk was he was very interested as was his wife in leaving CS.

Sumlin wanted to be the only choice for USC. Kudos to Haden for not falling for that trap.

But, I wish he would've just to see the epic Texags meltdown, v.3.

Mack Brown would have offfered him without recruiting anyone else. He has a habit of doing that....

I cant blame him, but that just tells me he's going to be a candidate for every upwardly mobile job.

Aggy will be lucky to win 5 games next year.
I haven't peaked at their schedule but this is very unlikely with how those schools schedule and how aggy is scheduling. There are usually 5 auto wins on those SEC schedules. I know I'm beating a dead horse here but in one of Alabama's MNC's - LSU i think, they only beat 3 teams with winning records and one of them - LSU had already beaten them.

I'd think they'd have to completely implode to only win 5. Plus despite looking less and less unstoppable, I think Manziel will have to come back if he doesn't close strong. His stock must be tanking.

Like if we hired Briles, he'd bolt for Waco? I agree.

Would not be surprised in the least to see UW go after him with Sark's departure.

Assuming that Manziel leaves and Aggy is starting a 1st year starter, here's how I think it plays out:

Gimme Wins: Lamar, Rice, SMU, ULM

Gimme Losses: None

Toss-ups: South Carolina, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi St, Mizzou, LSU, Auburn, Alabama

Some might fault me for not putting LSU, Auburn, or Alabama in the "Gimme Losses" category, but it will depend on early declaration draft attrition. Even if we treated those all as Gimme Losses, that leaves 5 toss-up games of which 2 are at home, 2 are on the road, and 1 is neutral. On the conservative side, Aggy wins the ones at home to get to 6 wins.

I think Manziel and Evans depart and the offense takes a huge step back without Manziel's playmaking ability. They only lose Jake Matthews on the OL, but they also lose Malena and WRs Walker and Labhart. Even with the Sumlin spread air raid, the numbers are going down.

On the defensive side of the ball, there is nowhere to go but up (ok maybe a little down, but mostly up). They only lose WLB Steven Jenkins and Nickle Toney Hurd, Jr. This year of getting their butts handed to them will help them improve next year, just don't know how much.

Longstory short, they get 6 wins minimum and maybe as high as 8 or 9, but that is a real stretch.

Week 1 @South Carolina - L

Week 2 Lamar - W

Week 3 Rice - W

Week 4 @SMU - W

Week 5 Arkansas - W

Week 6 @MSU - W

Week 7 Ole Miss - L

Week 8 @Alabama - L

Week 9 - Open

Week 10 - ULM - W

Week 11 - @Auburn - L

Week 12 - Missouri - W

Week 13 - Open

Week 14 - LSU - L

7-5 which is a game worse than this year and another year of diminishing returns.

This doesn't surprise me. Why would Sumlin have any loyalty to A&M? He's a carpet-bagger from IN for crissakes!

I'm not totally convinced Manziel goes pro this year. He was exposed the past two weeks by LSU and Mizzou. The fact that he plays poorly in cold weather doesn't make him a more attractive NFL prospect either.

Gag 'Em

I still think there is a very good chance Sumlin ends up in Houston replacing Kubiag. Houston and Keenum would both be upgrades over College Shittown and whoever the hell starts next year.

They are due to soil the sheets next year in one of those games, and I think Arkansas is that game.

Per Houston radio, Sumlin's contract has a clause that he can not leave for an NFL job. Doesnt make sense to me but they said it a couple of times.

That doesn't make any sense at all.
