SignUp Now!I'm kind of surprised the amount of people here who have such a strong dislike for Strong. I don't think he's Saban-caliber but he's a good coach we'd be fortunate have wearing burnt orange. What if it is Strong and he comes here and wins a several CCs and a NC? What if he comes in an competes immediately? What will people say about this "horrible hire" then? Will people still want to burn down Bellmont and crucify Patterson?
Well hell what if we kept Mack and he won the next 5 NC in a row? What if's are just that, what if.What if it is Strong and he comes here and wins a several CCs and a NC? What if he comes in an competes immediately? What will people say about this "horrible hire" then? Will people still want to burn down Bellmont and crucify Patterson?
What if the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus are real? A Strong hire means that nothing has changed in UT athletic culture except the names. What if it is Strong and he comes here and wins a several CCs and a NC? What if he comes in an competes immediately? What will people say about this "horrible hire" then? Will people still want to burn down Bellmont and crucify Patterson?
That logic makes no sense.Well hell what if we kept Mack and he won the next 5 NC in a row? What if's are just that, what if.
Your analogy makes no sense. What if the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus are real? A Strong hire means that nothing has changed in UT athletic culture except the names.
Yup, because no one stays out in front of the inner workings of Texas football like Kirk Bohls.per kirk bohls twitter..more smoke? i think its getting clear its gonna be Charlie Strong..

I don't know for sure but I think the regents have to sign-off.There is a $5 million buyout in Strong's contract. Anyone know if a buyout must be approved by administration officials, or does Patterson have complete authority?
There is an interesting gap in the varying perceptions.I'm kind of surprised the amount of people here who have such a strong dislike for Strong. I don't think he's Saban-caliber but he's a good coach we'd be fortunate have wearing burnt orange.
I don't see how it makes no sense to you...I don't think Strong would be a bad hire. I don't think he would be a good hire. I think he would be more of the same of what we already had. With the other candidates that are being mentioned for the job, why settle for Strong? Seriously would you take Strong over Saban? Or Harbaugh? I wouldn't.That logic makes no sense.
My point was even you have alluded that Strong would be a bad hire and we'd be looking for another coach in 5 years. It's as if you want him to fail. Strong has proven he can coach. If he's the choice lets give him a chance. He could be very successful.
Yes it's very interesting. Even I was laughing at the absurdity of Saban coming here when it was gaining ground earlier in the year. There is an interesting gap in the varying perceptions. The WVU poster + his Louisville buddies think Strong would not make a lateral move to Austin, and will hold out for the upgrade to Florida or Miami.
While, here, we see Strong as a 2nd tier hire. Or possibly even 3rd tier.
If perception is reality then there's your proof.
Because UT would be once again settling for mediocrity rather than demanding excellence and investing in the best scenario.Your analogy makes no sense.
How exactly does it mean nothing has changed within the athletic department?
I don't think for one second Strong will be hired by Patterson. That being said, if Patterson does hire Strong, then Patterson should be run out of town on a rail.Guys take a breath. Strong is the only guy on the list other than Harbaugh that has finished his season. Just makes sense he's getting to talk now. Later this week and early next I feel sure the others will get their chance.
