Stephen A. Smith weighs in on Strong - Texas

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith went on the Mike & Mike show this morning and shared his thoughts on Charlie Strong - Texas.
 
Only 18 games into his tenure as head coach at Texas, Smith says it is time for a change on the 40 Acres.

It's absurd to think Strong should be fired after 18 games as HC....   

One legitimate concern that Smith brings up is the recruiting aspect of Texas right now and its saleability.  The days of recruiting 4 & 5 star kids to Austin because "were Texas" doesn't fly anymore. Continuing to lose kids to Texas A&M, Baylor, TCU, UH is tough for Texas fans to stomach.

Winning overcomes any perceptions, right or wrong, that are out there.

Question is how long does it take Strong to start winning?

How about after 25 games ???

Another question is by the term "winning" do you mean beating the likes of Rice, Kansas, ISU, OSU and those types of teams; or beating the TCU's, Baylor's, OU's, etc....???

i do not think he will ever beat all three in the same year with the staff  ( OC / DC ) he has now. So if Texas wants to win a championship OF ANY KIND Charlie has to clean house or be replaced. It needs to happen at the end of this season if we hope to be relevant as a contender by 2020.

I hope Charlie makes the needed changes and stays. His discipline and push for education is wonderful. But if he is too loyal to individuals or too stubborn to make changes, he needs to go.
