Sorry Charlie

Ok, STP, perhaps Charlie should just schedule a pre-conference of little sisters of the poor so you'll feel better about all of this? Geez.

The three losses came to SWC foes. This is fact. Texas was 3-3 against competition that mattered.

Rice beat him 34-7.

TCU beat him 22-8.

SMU beat him 26-10.

This is before SMU started cheating. This is before scholarship limits and when Texas was THE school in Texas. This is before offenses ran 62 passing plays per game.

So yea, he regressed since he went 4-1-1 (and ranked #11 nationally) the previous year, his first then slid to 4th in the conference and was unranked.

Please don't think I don't look this stuff up.
spin away. If you want to say DKR took over a 1-9 team and regressed to 6-4-1 and 7-3 fine. And if you can spin Charlie taking a winning team into a losing team let me know.
You're trying too hard. We all like Charlie. He's failing. It's just math.

You know he misunderstood your comment. Don't be a prick just for the sake of it.

Well STP, let me help you with your addition and subtraction then.

First year - ranked 11th in nation.

2nd year - unranked

11 is a higher number than 0.

Apparently, you think a lot more of that second year than any of the voting members of the coaching poll, AP members and UPI members.

Remind me who's spinning here? lol

Nobody was talking to you and needing your input. I'll let you know. Thanks.
I'll let you cool off and come to the realization of how foolish you look attacking somebody on the internet on your own. I respect you enough not to throw names at you. Hopefully you'll feel the same when you've come down from this game a bit.

This is a good community. It doesn't need members tearing each other apart over differing opinions. Enjoy your night STP.

STP, this is probably a bad time for all of us to be discussing this stuff. I respect your opinion and understand how you feel. I think you're in a majority here. I just feel differently. That's all. I don't begrudge you for your opinion and sort of expected this type of reaction. Let's pick this up later if you feel it's worthwhile.

I just posted the new landscape thread for November. That will take your mind off things if only for a few minutes. lol

Sure wish we could go back to the days when a 6-4-1 record would get you ranked as no.11 in the nation. But speaking of Rice, Baylor and SMU in the 50's...........they were a LONG way from being a gimme when you played them. I'm pretty sure most of you are too young to remember Frank Ryan, King Hill and Kosse Johnson. But I remember them well.

I really don't see how pointing out factual errors are 'tearing each other apart '
Nevertheless I'm done on this site.

Personally, I hope you'll stick around. I think you're a great member of this site and you tend to bring a lot of intellect with your posts.

I think emotions are running high in a lot of camps after the game today. Understandably, so. I think it's being thrown around a little misguided by quite a few, most certainly not just you. Hopefully you'll change your mind at some point.

Best.

Yea, more than one person in this thread is guilty of "attacking" the messenger instead of "attacking" the message. There's a difference between the two that I have had to learn.

Most everybody loves Charlie, the man, and his core values. It's Charlie the coach we're not crazy about.

That offensive game plan was atrocious. Yeah, maybe Heard just didn't execute it properly. There were many times I thought he could've hit an open receiver if he'd kept his eyes downfield. But, isn't coaching 'em up part of the deal too?

JB, the thing that concerned me were Heard's passes. They were lobs, not bullets. If that's the case, can it be fixed. If not, he cannot be a full-time college qb. That qb will need to be Locksley or our new January enrollee.

Heard easily made those passes his first 2 games.  Heard was 20/31 for 364 yards vs Cal.  This seems more like a scheme or game plan issue.  Yes I noticed a few times Heard held the ball too long before releasing so maybe its timing thing.

I am with JB on this.  The players looked flat, unmotivated, and unprepared....again.  I fear losing with very little effort is becoming normal for this team.

One thing that amazes me is this coaching staff is terrible at making in game or halftime adjustments.  0-11 when the other team scores first says it all.  Its almost as if the original game plan isnt working we are screwed.

This is frustrating because we saw a glimpse of how they can play vs OU then we see this suckfest vs 2-5 Iowa State.

I lay this at Heard's feet. You are correct in pointing to evidence that says he can do it. He did it. So why didn't he do it this time? No, it wasn't scheme or game plan because PLENTY of pass plays were called that ended with Heard trotting out of bounds or throwing the ball away.

Something's in Heard's head and I don't know what it is. There was a fear of throwing a downfield pass yesterday. There were openings, coverage wasn't that great.

Coaches can coach but they cannot go out and make the players do what they're taught. Perhaps this is why Heard took a seat in the 4th?

Game plan wise, I am more concerned with what happened on the other side of the ball. We were run over.

Why Heard wasn"t repaced at half time, I don't know.  He did not have "it" that game and it should not have taken three quarters of football for the coaches to figure that out.

After a blowout loss to WVU and a 55-7 beating at Baylor this will all be over is my prediction.

I'd say that's a safe bet, especially if we have the inside track on a quality HC like Tom Herman.

It sucks for CFS, because we all admire him as a person. But, I'm sure he'll end up at Miami or somewhere else he's more comfortable.

I have been a supporter for Strong and wanted him to succeed. I was positive that he would if given 3 seasons. Now I don't think the risk is worth it to keep him another season. After ISU I'd say his chances of success at UT are not at all likely.
