All I can gather from Twitter so far is Pelini has been "fired", the AD is MIA, and there is a strong rumor police were at the team facility this morning.

The word I'm getting about the FAU situation isn't good. Won't print. Press conference in 21 minutes.

Funny to think that Diaz was close to accepting that job, but Mack talked him into returning to Texas this year.

@BFeldmanCBS: Very bizarre situation w #FAU. It's like the whole athletic dept has shut off its phone system in wake of Pelini mess.

Did Pellini get in trouble at Nebraska for doinking an AD underling and part of the reason he left was to get away from the mess that created?

Wow, never heard that one before. I guess school administration frowns on drug use for leaders of young men...go figure!

at least that 4th down spike vs miami won't be the dumbest thing he will be remembered for

the brothers have a new career awaiting them....football clowns

Florida Atlantic head coach Carl Pelini resigns | Campus Union - SI.com

Florida Atlantic head coach Carl Pelini and defensive coordinator Pete Rekstis have resigned, effective immediately, the university announced on Wednesday. Offensive coordinator Brian Wright will take over as the Owls interim head coach.

The news was first reported by ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.

At a press conference on Wednesday, FAU athletic director Pat Chun cited “illegal drug use†as the reason for both coaches’ resignations. Chun found out about an incident on Monday and reported it to the school’s general council. According to Chun, no other football staffers or student-athletes were involved.

Pelini and Rekstis were both escorted out of the team’s football offices by police.

That was Florida International not Florida Atlantic.
