Sitting at the airport while scatter shooting baseball

Are you related to Blackie Sherrod by chance?

No, he was talking to me.  Blackie Sherrod was one of the great writers at the Dallas Times Herald.  His writings were legendary.

He wrote a column called "Scattershooting," and had a couple of books as well.

Wrote an amazing article on Freddie Steinmark. Nominated for a Pulitzer, I believe.

And here is a good piece from Texas Monthly about him.

It's actually quite a compliment to be mentioned in the same breath as Sherrod, (although I know Mark was just giving me a bit of grief!)

TCU down 7-1 to Ok St B8

Series tied at 1.

FINAL: TCU loses 7-2 to Ok St. in Game 3

Ok St. wins series 2/3

Not at all my friend. I used to work for the Times Herald. I never actually met (as in introduced) to Blackie, but was a big fan. So many mornings would get started with a cup of coffee and "Scattershooting while wondering whatever happened to ______"

He was and is a legend, IMO.

I think the idea of random scattershooting thoughts and questions regardless of topic would be pleasing to Mr. Sherrod up there in the newsroom in the sky.
