Not that it will matter to anyone but I am disappointed that Hornsports has gone the pay route. In my opinion, there is just not enough "meat" that makes me want to spend even $4.99 a month. Crossfire is the really the only thing that comes close but, like what you will read on other sites, the "inside" nature of it is extremely general. In other words, it leaves lots of room to say that the info was correct no matter how actual events played out. Bottom line, there's really little here now for the non-member to read.

if giving up the equivalent of one morning's latte at starbucks per month is too much to post on a UT friendly site without the ridiculous acrimony and nonsense of the other boards, with the addition of the ticker and the combination of rankings, then this may not work for you.  to be real honest, $5 bucks a month really ain't a lot of money.  you bet that on a hole, most likely. hell, just think of it as an extra bogey per month.

these guys have been footing the costs of this site out of their pockets for over a year now and they're adding guys with some great writing skills and knowledge.  i don't think you've had time to really assess whether its good for you or not, but if its too much, its too much.  I hope you decide to stick around.

Thanks Slim for putting this in perspective, but unfortunately, non premium members can't see your post.

Yep.  Won enough yesterday to pay for my 1st month's dues!   ;)

I laughed at this as well. However, I will say that we'd benefit from a way in which we could talk with non-premium members. There will be times in which non-premium members have questions about non-premium information and it's quicker and more efficient for a poster to respond rather than a moderator. I love this site, I love this community and it's because of that, that I'm able to understand the frustration on some people's part. Even if $5 isn't all that much.

Regarding my post about being disappointed that this site went to "pay" status; Non-members might as well not post/participate anymore as they cannot read any replies to anything they say. For instance, I don't know if anyone replied to my previous post in this thread but if they did I don't know what they said.

I mentioned this to Aaron yesterday. He's on it.

If only he knew.

Which is why this board > every other board.

so, it is goodbye forever then?

Guys,

We are talking about 16 cents a day.
In my opinion it's never about money it has to do with value for the money. Most people will spend huge amounts of money if they feel they're receiving a specific value. For example some will spend $100.00 for a certain meal while others will not. I donate to the LHF and buy season tickets others do not. It's all about perceived value.

Quick question: by clicking the thumbs up icon am I actually "liking" that post? It changes to a thumbs down icon when pressed, so not sure what is happening. It doesn't post who is thanking or liking the posts like the old format, and of course I want to make sure I am offending the correct people with my posts! Anyone who is in the know please give me some input.

I dont have an issue with paying a few bucks for some premium content.  I think the staff will deliver, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed the message board has basically gone pay as well.  I really liked the community here this last season and it offered something OB and IT were not.  Not saying it still wont, but I get the idea several good posters that have been posting here for free the past year are now turned off by the pay idea.  Some have posted so on the site, and posted elsewhere they prob would not subscribe as weren't looking to go down the pay route

I cant blame the owners for wanting to capitalize on what they have here, but I'd seriously consider leaving the regular message board free until this place is really humming with big traffic and established poster base

On phone, if you like something, it appears as a thumbs down.  I know, kinda confusing.  Viewing through phone, everything is a thumbs up initially as a default.  But when you actually click on the thumbs up, it then turns to thumbs down.  You can't see your name by the likes through phone, but on PC you can.

Hope this helps.
