I'm a Christian and was brought up in the Baptist Church. As an adult, I've been a member of both non-denominational and Baptist churches. It all depended on the philosophy of the church and attitude of the membership.
Baylor is disappointing as a representative of the Baptist Church. Baylor has not been an upstanding model of Christian beliefs or actions, as an institution. They have more closely followed the model that the Catholic Church used during the pedophile priest era. I want to emphasize that it's my belief that it is the institution, rather than individuals, with the exception of Briles, Starr, and the AD, that are responsible. Anyone of Briles, Starr, or the AD should have stepped forward long ago to admit there is a problem and begin remediation. The buck starts and stops with those three men.
Baylor also represents one of the worst aspects of college football. One that excuses athletes of anything if they are an integral part of the team. Since Baylor has been in the Big 12, their athletes have been guilty of rape, murder, animal cruelty and robbery. That we know of. These incidents were never exposed until outside sources became aware and publicized the information.
Baylor is a disgrace.
