We keep hearing we have talent from the so-called experts, but i have never really bought into much… 3 top 20 teams, 3 blow outs. Outside of Gray/Johnson i am not sure we have a player on offense that would get any significant playing time at Oregon, Baylor, or OK state, much less be a full time starter.

As far as Defense is concerned- our Defensive backfield is atrocious overall and has been for awhile. Linebackers where do we start- hicks wasn't that great and he was our best. We have good ends, but seem to disappear from play to play/game to game.

What am i missing or forgetting about- been another long lousy season. Hopefully Patterson has a better success rate at hiring good head coaches. Outside of Brown- Dodds gets a lot of credit because of the revenues etc.. but his track record for hiring FB coaches stunk.

Your front four is very talented. As is diggs.

Your rbs (prior to gray going down) were all world.

There's definitely talent on the roster.

I think what you're seeing is the culmination of many years of a rudderless program. When you have guys who are uninspired, lacking in direction and development, and have a coach who tends way too far toward protecting kids' egos, allowing PT to be based in no small part to "bleeding for the program" and various favoritism, you're going to see talent look very average.

I personally don't buy into the notion that this program lacks enough talent to win really big. We saw recruiting classes ranked in the top five to top ten several years in a row from 2010-'12, which has now grown up a lot and came in as the most experienced program in the country. Instead, we had such results that we fired a DC, lost four games by three touchdowns or more, and failed to make a BCS bid again.

Overall, the talent on this team is better than any team UT has played this year but the players have been forced to operate with a very inferior head coach, a poor offensive scheme and a QB that could not start on a Div. 3 team. The players are not stupid. They understand that these very real and insurmountable defects and it is demoralizing and adversely affects their performance.

No doubt- the RB's are good, and Gray may be great at some point- those are the expectations, but not sure about "all world". Which one would beat out Seastrunk at baylor or be the number one RB at Oregon?

Maybe you guys are right- Hopefully the next coach whomever that is, proves my theory incorrect.

The talent is in Florida right now preparing for the UA game (depending on the hired coach)

Well, Ash would start for both OSU and Baylor. Shipley would start for all three. Davis for OSU and Baylor. Swaim for all three. Probably Walters, as well. for the D - both DE's, without a doubt. You don't bench All Americans. Hicks for all three and probably Byandom for Baylor and Oregon. Brown and Gray would start for all three and Bergeron would start for OSU.

Remember, this is one of the worst defenses in the history of the program.

Jaxon Shipley is a hell of a football player. No idea why we went to him so little this year.

Take away Case's 2 interceptions we could have been in this game. Our QB play didn't do our offense justice. Many times a defense feeds off what the offense does and ours failed to deliver. Just my opinion. Most of the team had the fire to win but lacked direction or coaching.
