Another thing I saw on 60 minutes was a report about Duke University doing a study (has had some unbelievable results) where an engineering altered polio virus is directly infused into an active cancer tumor.  It causes a very strong inflammatory reaction inside the tumor in which one's immune system is triggered to specifically fight the cancerous tumor.  They have had some amazing results with some very nasty forms of cancer.

I saw that and it was amazing the kinds of results they got. This week I read about a similar study using the herpes virus to boost the immune system in a way to fight melanoma. We're living in some interesting times.
Have a few friends in the fight. They and Shevis are all on my mind tonight. Can't wait to hear he's back up on his feet.
