Someone please tell me why OB is so far off on Mack & Saban. Just tonight Jason says as of tonight no decision has been made on Mack. Chip post no contract has been presented to Saban. Etc. I mean OB has been around along time.. They have to have some good sources beyond Belmont etc.. How could they not be hearing Mack is out, Every insider here and on IT has said this.. Thoughts everyone?

Good question. I don't know but if their sources are in Belmont, they may be wanting to control the message that way.

I think they are hedging their bets some what after the miss on the PAC 12 and it's Austin. They may have the information but have been told not to publish it. This site and IT are more "unofficial" in that Chip, Ketch, and Such won't readily publish rumors. I trust the insiders hear and the insiders there are saying the same things with exception of EM. I think they OB will officially post it when the news breaks

Hard to comment on what you don't know. I no longer post on OB and don't go there anymore so I'm not up with what they're saying. If you want to see a landscape thread, you'll have to look here. I tried one on IT a couple weeks back. Didn't go so well.

McPhaul has been money, his info supports the info I've heard, he's got a great site here and is the polar opposite of an a-hole. The other members of the team here are equally stand-up. I'm here for the long run.

Even Burton is on board with Mack out and Saban first choice (by far). And...Bobby is usually pretty conservative imo.

It had been suggested by a couple of people in other threads (sorry I can't remember who it was) that they might have struck a deal with Belmont. If this is true and I don't think anyone will ever know for sure i can see it impacting the tone of their reporting.

Considering how all over the place OB is right now how could anyone pay attention to what they are saying? One min they are claming Mack will not be back...then the next its no decision has been made. One min they think Saban may really go down and the next they act like its not very far along

they cant make up their minds what they are saying, and Chip & Ketch have even said conflicting things.

I suspect someone is pulling their purse strings and using them for an agenda

Bobby Burton is a mouthpiece and even he was claiming yesterday things point to Mack not being back and was naming coaching candidates including Saban. The fact he even went there is telling

Ehh, just seems like a more "professional" route, that is all. Nothing to worry about or get mad over. (Not saying you're mad or upset--just being general.)

I think OB has more of a "connection" to The University and thereby can be considered a university source. Because of that, them posting rumors (which they technically are at this point) no matter how much truth they might have, won't look good for UT or the athletic department.

The same can be said for sportswriters as well. Their jobs are on the line. The same can't be said for fans on a message board who are telling information, no matter how truthful they may or may not be.

Seacrest out.

Thanks sirhorns. We appreciate you being here and being a part of this site also.

I'm with mcphaul when it comes to the info.

Really? People at IT hated on a landscape thread by you? That's disappointing. I like IT a lot and love your landscaping advice too. Guess I'll keep looking for you here then. Keep up the good advice!

Bobby may be the most conservative person on earth, especially in terms of expressing any adverse opinion about Mack.

i am very grateful for this site. you can consider me a new "convert" regardless of what happens. I can tell the the information being given is quite legitimate regardless of what happens. the way it is delivered shows integrity and honesty.

I think the 'no contract has been presented to Saban' quote is akin to saying that Saban has not been contacted. It seems to be quibbling by OB. All someone needs to do is ask OB if Sexton has conducted any negotiations on behalf of Saban with Texas. That should slow that line of argument down.

Well, there were about three-four posters who were upset about it being on the main board and they tried to hijack the thread. I thanked them for helping us kick the thread back so often and that didn't go well, either. I had about 15 people email me questions about stuff because they didn't want to post in that thread. I may try another one over there as spring gets close, I don't know.

I'm glad you like them and gain some benefit. Always glad to help other Horns out.

I realize the timing on this last landscape thread sucked (last night), competing with Sabanmania and all. So if you've got ice concerns check it out, prolly on page 2 by now.

OB was and is so far behind on Saban that they are playing it the other way. JS and McPhaul have been way out in front on Saban. OB plays it conservative and continues to paint the picture of Saban not coming. If he doesn't come, they look brilliant and remain the 800 lb. gorilla.
