SEC Bias discussion

What a sham the SEC is...

Just wait until this year and the hype around Alabama that is sure to ensue.

They play Western Kentucky (before Ole Miss), Kent State , and Chattanooga (before Auburn).  They have a bye before LSU.

They effectively play 9 real teams, with rest weeks before the "difficult" matchups.

This hype machine will be insufferable.  If the Big 12 was snubbed because of no conference championship game a few years back, this Alabama 2016 edition should be left out because they effectively play 1/2 of a legitimate schedule...

Take a close look at the SEC schedules for 2016.  All of the "power players" are obviously gaming this system well.  There are no FCS teams scheduled for the game before the SEC championship game for all of the teams in the conference.  If there were, this sham/creampuff win would be fresh on the minds of everyone watching that final matchup, and excuses would be flowing...

But look at the game BEFORE this last game:

Alabama schedules FCS Chattanooga for a country club matchup.

Florida?  They play Presbyterian for the penultimate regular season matchup.

Auburn?  They play FCS Alabama A&M.

Georgia?  They play Lafayette La.

Rest up, SEC "blue bloods".  Maybe we will not look back 2 games or even further on your schedule to see what you did there...

I hope Notre Dame NEVER joins a conference for this very reason.

Like you, I can't stand the SEC and the media bias. I'm a Sooner fan, but unlike you, I don't have any sort of hate for the great University of Texas. Don't sweat it; I'm not calling you out for hating the Sooners. I just love everything about Texas because IMO Texas is the greatest state in the entire country. I lived there most of my life, but had to move BACK to Oklahoma because of reasons that I'll not expound upon.

I'm watching the movie "My All American" on Netflix right now, and it FWIW I'm loving every moment of it.

Right now, in my head and in my heart, I'm a Longhorn fan and I say "Hook 'em Horns!"

God Bless you all.

Hook'em right back at ya!

Saw a good one on another site.

Title of the thread was "NCAA Punishment Comes Down in Ole Miss Case".

Then there was a link to article about the NCAA fining and putting Alcorn State on probation.

When do the Roadrunners get to join the SEC West? They are obviously not outclassed.

That link doesn't have the LHN listed. I wonder how it's doing in terms of viewership?

Probably not good. I'll elaborate.

Last night, I'm channel surfing, craving some football. So I flip to LHN. Whats on? "Black Matters" and what followed that? "Race and Police Relations in Austin."

SMH

So I flip to the SEC Channel. What do they have? They put together a montage of the weekend's games, which included every scoring drive of every game played in the conference. They simply used the game calls from the games themselves and used no narration at all.

It left me wondering if ESPN wasn't intentionally stinking up LHN programming, while enhancing SEC programming? I mean, was there even a remote choice for what I would watch? This was at 10-11 at night.

There is a significant lack of creativity going on at LHN. The shows suck. The news conferences are nice coverage but really only because of the excitement around the change. What we normally draw to – football and basketball games – have sucked. Thats not their fault, but when your feature thing is stinking up the place, you better get creative.

I admit I like to watch the basketball and volleyball games on it. I also like to re-watch the games we win but I can't bring myself to re-watch the ones we lose.

I've seen some other stuff on there that I wonder "WTH?" and I did see the "Black Matters" title last night but figured it was something to do with BLM which IMHO is wrong because ALL lives should matter but I regress.

Yea, it seems the "LHN" has been a jinx to Texas sports unfortunately. Thanks for your input Sir.

Does it make you wonder?

ESPN pretty much controls the talent at LHN. I'm not sure who controls the programming. While I like to see the former Horns like Ricky, Vince and now Acho – I think they're not only valuable for having "been there," but also because they're good at the pundit thing. Acho has really impressed me. The guy always has something to say. I enjoy watching when he's on.

But again, the programming . . . IN THE MIDDLE OF FOOTBALL SEASON . . . . enough to make a Longhorn watch SEC network. lol

So I do wonder . . is ESPN doing something to hold back LHN while the push their SEC network. I mean, it's clearly no secret that ESPN has narrowed its preference in an extreme way to the SEC.

Who could threaten that? Who HAS threatened and taken a bite out of that in the past? . . . Texas?

Who'd wanna miss this, #BeforeTheyWereCowboys?

A lot of people don't like Jerry Jones, but I'll give him this: he was a starter on the OL for

Arkansas' 1964 NC team.  Dude had to be a pretty tough college football player!

EDIT: Jerry Jones was an All Southwest Conference OL; Jimmy Johnson was an

All Southwest Conference DL
