Well, look who else is going camping this summer - Mike Riley and Nebraska.

Recently, SEC coaches lead by Nick Saban expressed their displeasure with this campaigning. Michigan and Jim Harbaugh drew their ire with a southern swing through TX, AL, and FL. For some inexplicable reason, Saban is against offering Sun Belt youths expanded educational opportunities at higher-rated universities.

Not surprisingly, there's no word from Saban and SEC coaches on whether they intend to discontinue other questionable practices - like over signing and greyshirting.

Entire statement was taken out of context. Leave it to Finebaum to blow something out of proportion. Shaw went on his show today and clarified everything even though he wasn't out of line in the first place.

Why in the world would the Big12 vote to ban satellite camps? Only UT, BU, and TCU benefit from this ruling. Tell me Iowa St, KU, WVU and others don't need out of state and southern talent. I don't get the rationale for voting with the SEC on this one. F 'em

The ban has been rescinded

Thus freeing David Shaw to camp in Alabama and Mississippi.

Personally, I'm not a fan of satellite camps, but if its good for the players overall then they should be allowed.

It's the Iowa States and Northwestern's of the college football world that make me sympathetic.....I just can't stand schools like Ohio State or LSU, with all their in state talent, reaping the benefits of camps in Texas.

UT may not need to host satellite camps, but it's good for the under-recruited kids to get more exposure. IMO, we should strongly consider hosting events in FL and CA. Maybe find a few hidden gems.

If the big boys are going to come to Texas to hold camps then we should be holding camps in their states.

New Orleans, Atlanta, Los Angeles, The Bay Area, Miami, NYC/NJ , Chicago, DMV .

Umm...okay, but shouldn't we host camps in FL, CA, LA, and GA? I gotta believe we expect UF to reciprocate by hosting UT in FL. We should schedule a home & home while we're partnering, too.

to drive home that these camps are primarily for the purpose of increasing opportunity and exposure for players in need of it we need a rule that contact with four-or-five-star players is impermissible.

personally, i think the camps would still be worth the programs' time, but i bet the michigans and alabamas would suddenly discover all manner of schedule conflicts.

-_-  This is a bummer, unless he's trying to score some brownie points with the THSCA.

And they should not host a camp with Florida if they aren't going to be hosted by Florida.
I agree

That doesn't strike me as good business. THSCA has gotta understand that UT is a national player in recruiting. We can't get every TX prospect we want, so cast a wider net.
