Saban negotiations w/Bama story??

McPhaul, what are we making out of the story now being reported by bleacher report and others that Saban is in negotiations w/Bama in 7 million dollar range? Just smoke to make it look like UT outbid Bama and he didn't leave them cold or is this bad news

i take everything on bleacher report with a huge grain of salt. The offer from Alabama has been on Sexton's "desk" since Friday. If it were a foregone conclusion he is going to extend with them, he would have done it by now IMHO.

It doesn't matter WHAT the dollar amount that is offered by Bama salary-wise, we can match them, they can match us.

What they CAN'T do is match the "off the ledger monies" that UT can offer. This will be done soon.

This extension is nothing new. It was reported on last Friday and discussed all weekend. This is on top of the previous extension that was on the table several weeks ago, both of which remain unsigned. Bama is trying to sweeten the deal but cannot begin to match the total package in front of Saban from Texas. They are trying but won't be able to close the gap, and money is not the only driver in this for Saban (and they can do nothing about that).
