But an up and comer will never work in Westwood. They don't care about football; and they don't have much NIL. Only an established coach even has a chance. Chip might have taken them to their ceiling as a program. An up and comer would be stupid to take the job because its where coaches go to die. It's not a better job than Minnesota except for the weather.

I think Chip did take them as high as they are capable of right now. That may or may not change when Big10 money starts flowing in.

I just don't think either of those two coaches are very good.
I think Chip thought highly when he took the job. College football has changed since 2018. UCLA hasn’t. They are not involved with NIL. They can’t recruit. They can’t get good players in the portal. They lose the players they develop. Their last two recruiting classes have been ranked 55 and 70. That’s with getting highly ranked QBs who wanted to play for Kelly. Now his draw is gone.
