I did talk to my friend. His son did play in that game. He actually played in 3 games this past season.
Surprised they didn't go after someone with some head coaching experiences, unless they think the potential NCAA penalties would make that unrealistic.
Seems like their roster was already suspect, now they will likely see some additional defections. The new guy is likely to face unrealistic expectations against a very strong osu, and upgraded conference. Unless he is crazy good, he isn't going to last.

Yeah, not only is OSU significantly better . . . they're also pissed.

Burton said that MeatChicken probably has the two best interior DL in the Big 10. He also said that if they hire the OC right away, and he keeps the DC on staff - that there would likely be very few portal entries.

Similar to the Rodney Terry situation (in some ways). He did very well filling in... and the players would likely be very unhappy if he wasn't the man.... expressing their unhappiness by entering the portal in mass. There's a lot of pressure to not go a different direction.
The DC is following Jim to LA. The DC was picked from John Harbaugh's staff at Baltimore. If Michigan ends up promoting from within for DC, he may keep the players. But if he goes outside the team, all bets are off.
It'd be funny if Connor Stalions ends up on the Charger staff.
Sherone Moore and Ryan Day have had surprisingly similar journeys. Day was OC and then interim coach when Urban Meyer was suspended and then named head coach at Ohio State. Now Moore seems to be about to follow that same path at Michigan.
Might be a little harder today with the transfer portal. Look at what happened to both Washington and Bama. Their rosters were decimated by the portal. Back in 2018 when Day got the OSU job the transfer portal had just gotten started and you still had to sit out a year if you transferred.
