Buyout goes from 15 Million to 7.5 Million on October 1st, so my guess is they wait it out, but it will be beyond obvious that he is a dead man walking. 

That's a good point. Really no reason to do it right now, especially if you can save 7.5 mil by waiting a few more weeks. I don't think installing an interim head coach really helps this team make it through September.

I think Frost wanted another shot with new assistants and Nebraska was willing to give it a shot if Frost was willing to sign a new contract that lowered his buyout.  The administration hoped he would succeed,  but figured if it didn't work they could save some money. 

I think if Frost wasn't a famous alumni he wouldn't have gotten a fifth year.
