My understanding is those schools were comparing notes and sharing info that they had gathered through legitimate means. They weren't sending people to games to film sidelines.

I'd say they'd more likely get kicked out of the big 10 before they leave it. The lack of concern for what they did is astounding.
Today I listened to their statement read on ESPN. It shocked me that Michigan would complain about an unfair advantage when this whole thing is about the unfair advantaged they paid to have.
NCAA needs to kick Michigan in the ass.

In other big 10 conference rules, teams are not allowed to conduct in-game scouting in advance of a game. Ohio State and Rutgers did not do that. Michigan did. Over and over again.

IDK, maybe other teams sharing notes with each other should be against the rules. Maybe they could bring this up with the league when rules are being discussed. But in no way does other teams operating within the rules that you don't like justify or excuse blatantly disregarding the rules.
Harbaugh seems to believe the rules don't apply to him. He got suspended earlier in the season for a rules violation, then lying about it. I'm not sure if they can prove he knew about the illegal scouting, but it's obvious to any objective person that he knew about it, and is again lying when he denies knowing.
If the University handled this in an honest fact finding way I would more sympathetic to their situation, but considering they are enabling this, I hope they (ncaa and or B1G) come down hard on them.

What I read was that those teams were sharing info because each had discovered what Michigan was doing, and chose to work together against Michigan.
The teams in the conference are ticked. Michigan State didn't even want to play Michigan because of this last week.

No one has to prove he knew about it. As head coach he is responsible for what all of his assistants do. That being said, there is no way he didn't know about the scouting.
Two things regarding this scandal...One, the stats are definitely skewed from before to after the alleged start of the illegal scouting. Two, the only team Michigan didn't pre-scout last season was TCU.
