Rumph gone?

I think it has a lot to do with getting back to the SEC.

Also, it would be dumb to show that "Lets Ride" video if he leaves. He says in there we are better than Mars University.

Don't know if this is definitive confirmation, but according to Football Scoop, the Associated Press has confirmed both that Terrell Williams is leaving the UF staff and that Rumph is leaving UT to take the position.  Here's the link in case you wanna read it...about midway down.

That was released before all the denials came out from other media outlets.

I've also not seen anything from AP that has confirmed anything in terms of Rumph. All they did was cite the SI report.

Come on Charlie - if this is a lateral or semi-lateral move for Rumph, you gotta use your mojo.... perhaps extend a lifeline to Joe, Red or Jim Bob.

I'd love for AP to be wrong on this, but they rarely are.  Best case scenario right now is that Rumph really is torn and is having a heart-to-heart with his family.  I figure we'll see something definite early in the (Friday) morning.

I don't think it's a matter of AP being right or wrong. From what I've seen all they did was cite the SI report. They didn't confirm or deny anything, they merely referenced the SI report.

Checked who is considered good DL coaches if Rumph goes to Florida. I checked on Defensive Line Coaches that have good reputations. Football Scoop is voted by other coaches, so it's being recognize  by your peers.

Recruiting effect? Rumph to FL is a bump in Florida recruiting. He'd likely be after some (there) we'd be after.

So there's that.

If someone has his number maybe i could have a talk with 'em.

I agree.  To me, something doesn't smell right.

The most interesting name to me is Jon Sumrall of Tulane.  If he can be recognized as a top DL coach, coaching for Tulane, he is my kind of coach. :)

I'm really hoping Rumph stays. If he goes, I think you have to throw everything you've got to get Brick.

The fact that he would even consider leaving, for the same position, tells me it's not about money.  UT's asst.'s are some of the highest paid in college football.  It's Austin and it's UT.
If Rumph likes that small college town atmosphere, Austin obviously isn't for him.

I read somewhere that he didn't like the traffic, but is that really an issue when you get to campus at 6:00 AM? Maybe his family would like it better in Gainesville. I've been there and don't see the allure. It's the Collie Station of FL. Not even a beach nearby.

I say bump up his salary and give him more responsibilities if that's what he wants. This is a coach Texas could not afford to lose, especially to Florida if Texas still wants to keep that pipeline.
