We are headed out this morning to Texarkana, on our way to Memphis for a week and a half. I may not be on here much for a while.

Be safe on the roadways. Good time to leave Texas. Weather is supposed to be bad over the next week here in the Lone Star State if that disturbance in the Gulf heads our way.

Tourism stuff - We did a riverboat cruise on the Mississippi, watched the Peabody Hotel Duck Parade, went to BB King's Blues Club, Sun Records Studio, Stax Music Museum, Graceland, Memphis Museum of Rock & Soul and drove to Tupelo, MS to see Elvis' birthplace. I AM a music nut, so I had a hell of a time. The highlights for me were the Sun Records, Stax, Graceland and the Rock & Soul Museum.

Got lost ten or twelve times driving around Memphis on those crazy roads.

Food - If it ain't fried or barbecued, it ain't edible. We tried about six BBQ joints. My favorite was Corky's on Poplar. The best soul food IMO was at Dale's in Southaven, MS.

We stayed at the La Quinta next to St. Francis Hospital. There must've been some kind of dog convention happening since every other room on our floor with lonesome, howling dogs left in their rooms while the owners were out on the town.

I enjoyed the ribs at Corky's, but it was more about the experience than the food.
