Rick Barnes

He has to win at least one NCAA tourney game. If not, then you gotta get rid of him. That would be 1 tourney win in last 6 seasons if he can do it this year.
No reason to make up facts to try to make a point. We won a tournament game in 08-09 and 10-11. If he makes the tournament this year, I think he keeps his job. Frankly, it would be his best coaching job since his first year.

Texas has 3 wins against teams currently projected to be in the tournament.
I stand corrected. Mercer and SFA were both projected to be #15 seeds in the ESPN bracketology. Not sure I would consider those quality wins (as the UNC one was).

unfortunate that you need to apologize PDX.....the fact is that we have ONE quality win. And god help us if our objective is to make the tourney. Good lord. With the money and resources we have, there is no reason for us to not have a top 10 basketball team year end and year out.

Why expect that from football but not basketball?? I've always liked Barnes but he ought to have the same standard as Mack for keeping his job this year. Win the Big 12 championship or advance to the elite 8. Something along those lines.

Your definition of a quality win does match with what the selection committee's definition. Texas has a few quality wins, which a step forward from last year when Texas lost to Chamanaide. This season is about making the tournament, and get Turner. If both of those things happen, then the expectations you suggested should be required.

I won't argue about what is and is not a quality win because that's very subjective. However I stand by my standard for judging Barnes. Give me a Big 12 championship or take us to the elite 8 and you keep you job. Otherwise, adios. If Brown had that standard, then Barnes needs to have it too.

Besides North Carolina, who else is a "quality win?"

Because I don't see any.

Mercer, SFA, and Vanderbilt are all quality wins according to most every RPI poll.

There is something else happening besides the coach of the day show.

Big week for the men's BB coming up:

Oklahoma Saturday at 7pm on LHN

Oklahoma State Wednesday at 8pm on ESPNU

OSU is very tough. I think it may be the best team they have ever had.

If we can stay with them, it would be huge.
