Recruiting Week #27-28

The more I see of him, the more I believe my friend was right. Might be the best HS QB I've seen.

Does anyone have any updates on recruits reaction to the game? They should all be thinking that they have a legitimate shot at getting playing time their freshman year.

Hard to say. Gilmer beat Tatum 23-0 last night. Not the usual offensive output for a Gilmer team against a Tatum team that's nowhere near what it usually is.

Demarco Boyd is going both ways, playing TB and MLB.
Going by scores Tatum appears to be down. Glad to see Taylor recruiting Freeman. LE has always had good players Texas just has not showed very much interest in them IMo.

Ehlinger looks good, but the big question mark is how would he do against good teams. Sure he can run through Austin high 165 lb LBs as he is what 200+.?...but what about athletes who are D-1 material ? Couple that with him being a Shawn Watson pick, and you might want to wonder. Anything Watson had a say in has to be questioned at this point. Is this kid really a spread offense type of guy or more west coast ? We should be after VY and Heard clones, not Chris Simms, etc.; should we not ?

My point being...Should we stay with the Shawn Watson evaluated commits or steer to a different path ? Our biggest problem has been not recruiting to a specific offensive scheme .....What are we doing in that regard ? It looks like we are sold on a spread attack that requires a VY or Heard type of QB, so why not recruit as such ?

This Ehlinger kid may be as good as he looks, but a kid from Lake Travis looked pretty darn good in high school too, but didn't pan out so well for college ball. Apparently 4A ball in Texas wasn't all that back then.

Looking great against South Texas and Austin ISD is one thing, I want to see guys against real talented teams with size and speed. I also don't want Shawn Watson involved in picking a QB for Texas.

You do know that Ehlinger plays for Todd Dodge, right?

Now, what type of offense does he run? Oh, and Southlake Carroll is pretty good.

Sorry, pal, park's closed.  Buechele is not only better but far better, in my opinion.  He's our guy, and that's the way that it will be.  Not only Buechele's ability and the likelihood of it translating better at the college level, but also his leadership and his toughness.  Among those two, he's the guy, and he will be the guy at the position for us, regardless of the competition.  Could be this year or could be a year or two away, but that's the way that it is, and the way that it will be--deal with it, lol.

So I'm a little confused, who is the guy? Anyways, I'll take two quality QBs and let competition sort it out. Buechele coming early is great, get the spring reps and learn the offense.
