Recruiting Week #27-28

The drive from St. Louis to Chicago is one of the more brutal trips I've experienced. Farm land...farm land...ci--farm land with a gas station.
It most certainly is. My wife's family is in Chicago so we make that drive 3 or 4 times a year. Dont do it in the winter....even more depressing.

Longo getting hired as the OC at Texas wouldn't be anything less than shocking. He has a good work history but I don't think FCS Offensive Coordinators find themselves getting promoted straight into an FBS Offensive Coordinator position right away. I'd say the same thing about Traylor but given he's already been with the program, it's far more likely that he'd get the promotion before we hired Longo.

I could see Wickline getting the solo OC duties. Or Norvell receiving a promotion to Co-OC with Wickline. Longo has been impressive in his time at the FCS level and I could understand why an FBS team would include him on their staff. But any team that did so would bring him in as a QB coach first and then allow him the opportunity to prove his worth.
I really don't think it's a big deal. Sam Houston is a big time FCS program and Longo's resume speaks for itself. His offenses roll from the get go. No two or three year waiting period.

It's not like there are star rankings for coordinators.

No but there are credentials. He's never coached at an FBS level. Jumping right into second in command typically takes a little bit of FBS experience first. At least when you're talking about a school like Texas.

I guess...his system works though.

He's a HC but I guess an offer wouldn't hurt.
FBS OC > FCS HC

$$$

Just take a gander at what he's done with EWU. He lost one of the best damn Quarterbacks the FCS has ever seen to Oregon and his backup still came in and helped EWU throw 40+ on Oregon. His scheme works. He is a players coach. And he knows how to help players progress. Something Watson has seriously failed at.

Help really is on the way

Hopefully, we have a QB and an OL by the time it arrives?
