That's a whole different story and one that does warrant discussion.
Every school in the country is guilty of creating less rigorous and more controllable pathways for athletes.

At A&M it might be termed as ag leadership. At UT it might be termed as undeclared and then youth and community studies. Google the term "student athlete clustering"

Back to the point, I'm not a big fan of online courses either. But to act like they aren't being used at every school in the country to allow athletes flexibility is just silly. To say that online courses are the reason athletes might be picking A&M over UT reeks of excuse making.

At least you're making progress. Yes to some extent all schools fast track athletes. Texas is no different. You guys are taking that to a logical and unfortunate end by allowing all or a majority of classes to be taken online. Will others follow? Absolutely. I hope Texas does not. It's just way too lenient and has virtually no way of preventing large scale cheating.

I don't think anyone is saying it's a recruiting advantage today. But it very well could be in the future (it just started afterall). How could it not? If a certain player is a borderline student and really has no interest at all in his education and he's presented with 2 choices, sit in the front row of every single class or take a bulk load on online classes, a la University of Phoenix at College Station he's absolutely going to give that quite a bit of weight.

All or a majority is a misnomer based on Johnny taking one semester of online courses. Johnny was taking classes on campus this semester. Fairly positive he took classes in person in the semesters prior to the spring of 13.

If you can find proof of an athlete at A&M getting all/majority of classes online or sumlin selling an easier academic experience id love to see it

You realize that the sample size is a lot smaller for 5-stars than the other classifications? For instance, there are around 400 4-stars per year roughly and 25 5-stars per year. If there are 29 5-stars in the 1st round over a 5 year span, given my estimate of 25 five stars per year we get 29/125= 23% of all five-stars become first rounders. In comparison, 62 first rounders were 4-stars over the same period, which comes out to 62/2000=3% of all four-stars become first rounder. Nothing is a guarantee, but most of the top 100 players in the country are far more likely to succeed in college than the borderline 3/4 stars. In fact, a good portion of those 4-stars were top 100 players and would be considered a 5-star by at least one service now given the influx of reputable recruiting sites. I don't necessarily agree with each individual ranking, but stars generally have good accuracy (#1 hint towards them being good players is often the offer list). I would be interested to see how these stars translate to pro success (i.e. Pro-Bowl data).

Not gonna lie it can't hurt Texas either, with one of the bigger recruits picking Texas on national television. Not saying Poona is for sure picking Texas, but it's looking very likely. LOL! Honestly, it probably didn't benefit your argument by saying he "only" took one semester of classes on the net and he attended classes before and after that semester. Exactly what utisdabomb12 just said. Poona made it public knowledge that he wanted to use this chance to pay his respects to his High School and Coaches. It's been public knowledge for a while now.
