Recruiting Chat: Fire away

Hey Roach first time poster - New to site but love it already -- Hola fellow posters - this isn't neccesarilly a recruit question but what did you think of the hype video and it's effect on recruites as well as parents - Earl Campbell was a God in my house and I'm the age to have college aged children and wow - altho the entirety of it was classic from studs on campus to past greats to the future !! And a shot at the college down the road - thoughts all ??

My aggie friend is still confident they get Brandon Jones. He said he would only start to worry if momma Jones made the trip to Austin. Did momma make the trip to Austin.

For those not familiar, the poster is talking about this video

I thought it was very well made and want to make it clear this wasn't from the school. There's some confusion over it out there, but it appears to be a fan made video.

Saw a women in the pictures he posted throwing up the horns with all his brothers and him so I would assume that's his mom.

She most certainly did along with other family as you can see from this tweet.

Texas feels very good about things with Jones after this weekend.

Do you have the remaining dates of recruits coming in for OVs?
From what we know we have this

January 22nd

Obi Eboh

Kyle Porter

Mike WIlliams

Darius Anderson

Chris Brown

January 29th

Kelvin Lucky

Demarkus Acy

Possible for next weekend is Parrish Cobb, and Grayland Arnold has also possibly setup a midweek official.

I know these great players have earned the right to have their special moment as to how and when they make their

commitment/declaration and I respect that. But I'm a believer in "recruiting momentum" and I think there's something

to the "Pied Piper" effect (by that I mean some players are so good and so respected that their college choice can lead

other players to also want to play there). I see that Texas got several "silent commits" this weekend but would it be better

for recruiting momentum if these "silent" guys made their intentions public (as opposed to waiting until NSD and milking

the drama)?  I guess what I'm trying to say is if we hosted any Pied Piper types this weekend (I believe we did), shouldn't

we wish they would go ahead and give their public verbal commit to Texas so that other good players will follow?

Maybe, but all of the players on the visit weekend are aware of it so if these guys are telling people behind the scenes it has the same effect.  Public announcements are for fans.  That said I'll always maintain that silent commits just mean that school is currently leading.  They are a lot easier to back out of.

Something tells me his whole recruitment has been weird .I can't point my finger to it; it's just weird.DJax that is

I can't quite place it either but Jackson is very familiar with Texas.  I'd say there's a decent shot he takes an unofficial when Brown comes in next week and if that happens you can feel better about it.

Mom definitely made the trip. As did all of his brothers. Aggies shouldn't be overwhelmingly confident Jones will end up in College Station, this thing can go either way at this point and Texas just made a hell of an impression this weekend.

It's hard to feel good about that. Hopefully Strong will get the second in-home visit.
I think when it comes down to it he's really torn but LSU was his first option so I tend to give them the slight edge especially with the last visit.
