Recruiting article nails it!

We need this same poll updated in a couple of years. Would be interesting to see how we fare then...

It sounds like Coach Strong encourages his staff to be more personable with HS coaches. For example, he asked one "what are you having trouble with on defense". He took the time to draw up a plan and coach him up. Nice touch.

No offense but they polled 12 coaches in an area with over 300 schools.. . .it would not be hard for someone who follows recruiting at all to stack such a poll. . .but a great idea of a survey to conduct at the THSCA meetings .. .

Of the 12, I'll wager half or more of the schools were ft worth and mid-cities . .

it's the cynic in me but too many of these "studies" (national, sports political etc) are build to find facts to fit a conclusion . . .

If there's anything in that article that CS doesn't already know, then we hired the wrong guy. It looks like the kids are buying into agswag but the coaches, not so much.

Man mack brown was just lazy after 09. Its hurt our image alot. Im glad CS is working hard.

I suppose you were joking but I didn't see a smiley face.

In 2010, Mack recruited the no. 3 class in the nation.

In 2011, Mack recruited the no. 3 class in the nation.

In 2012, Mack recruited the no. 2 class in the nation.

In 2013, Mack could only include 15 in the class, and nine of those were 4 star players

Those rankings sure did pan out (sarcasm). He missed out on too many real players.

Recruiting was never a problem for Mack. Coaching them up and having a coherent plan oftentimes was.

Yes, I do remember all the people complaining in those years of top 5 classes that the rankings were wrong then. Sarcasm.

Look at the results of this "poll" - several teams made it high in best and worst simultaneously.

I'll give the devil his due, it was trending downward, but Mack could get a class of these on campus:

But then coach and develop them into a class of these:
