RE: Rick Barnes

Can "football power" and "basketball power" exist at the same school?
it did in austin from about 2002-2008. 5 years sweet sixteen or better and 5 years in the top ten (with another in 2009). give me that again for both teams (with two nattys in baseball for good measure during that time) and i'm living la vida loca.

In the past, WSU's Marshall has turned down Mizzou, Tennessee, and Cal? But he's interested in Alabama? Story here

$3MM per year is a big nut. What is Barnes annual salary?

Money rules all for some people, that might be why he's interested in a school like Alabama. Incentives would probably also be in the contract so that number would even be higher.

Is Marshall worth 3.5 to 4 million is the question? That's likely what it would take, if not more, if Bama is already offering 3 million.

Izzo and Donovan make 3.9 million. Is Marshall in the same league?

Let's keep in mind we won't be able to go get a Izzo or Donovan type we should be damn lucky if we can get a Marshall or Shaka smart

Purly hypothetical for the purpose of discussion.  We don't even know if Barnes will or won't be back next season.

Just curious if, after today, the masses would take him here at Texas, as he has hit a few potholes in the NCAA Tournament in the past.
so has Shaka Smart

He was an assistant at Florida in one of their down years when he got the offer to take over VCU with Anthony Grant leaving in '08 I believe. He is considered a hot commodity because he is young, super smart, and has proven success (Final 4 appearance+ at least 26 wins in all 5 years at VCU).

Sounds good to me.
