247Sports chip brown and Blondie are trying to decide should we ignore Ewers and put all our effort into landing Arch Manning

i say why not both?

at this point I’d rate the odds of getting manning pretty low

Texas should recruit Ewers if we can

but be careful what you wish for

just remember Chris Simms, Mr Pick Six, and the national championship that never was

You. know what they say . . . a bird in hand . .

Both for sure. You'd expect Ewers to play 2022 and 2023 and maybe 2024. Manning will be true freshmen 2023 and would be the likely starter his second season in 2024, and at worst his 3rd year in 2025.

I don't think Ewers negates the possibility of Manning at all.

I get bad vibes off ewers.    Is he an outstanding athelete?

maybe, but whats between the ears

my guess is he’s a flake

bring him in, and by the time Arch is ready to choose a school we’ll know the full story on Ewers

if he flops then he wont scare Manning off

besides, I still think a good offensive line would do wonders for Hudson Card or Casey Thompson

Not so fast my friend.

I've been around long enough to know you just don't hand the starting reins to someone who hasn't earned it, especially someone who hasn't taken a snap at the college level. Now, I'm sure these two could be great QBs but they haven't earned anything on the field at the collegiate level. Every hot shot high school QB is the next Vince Young or Aaron Rodgers before they even take their first snap. Sorry, but I don't count my chickens until they are hatched. If we get Ewers and/or Manning (highly doubtful), they are bench warmers until they beat out the competition, same as any other QB we get through the portal or recruiting.

Agreed, no one plays until they earn that spot.

I'm simply pushing back on the concern that if Ewers picks Texas that would scare off  Manning. If you look at the expected scenario I outlined, I think the concern is minimal.

Been some talk that TFB saying Texas could be bringing in David Cutcliffe as an analyst. Has anyone read that over on TFB?
Yes, they're saying Cutcliffe could be hired in the next few days to assume an offensive analyst role.

The significance of this is that Cutcliffe coached both Peyton (Tenn) and Eli Manning (Ole Miss) in college and both of those guys are strongly devoted to Cutcliffe. Peyton and Cutcliffe were inducted in the HOF together.

Thats a big deal for Texas in pursuit of Arch.

That would be an awesome hire for Texas. Hope this happens.

You pray and pray you end up with 1 but recruit the hell out of both!
