Quick Coaching Update (Updated Saturday 11AM)

What exactly is Saban like/total control?
Buy Herman a multi-million dollar estate on Lake Travis and then allow him to take a full reverse mortgage.

Pay off the reverse mortgage annually.

Always pay him more than any other coach in the country. He likes to know he is appreciated.

Stay out of his way regarding all personnel decisions.

Look the other way once you realize that all that matters is winning.

Acknowledge that the coach is bigger than the university.

I mean c'mon. You want to win don't you?

What exactly is Saban like/total control?
No meddling. He wants something done the administration doesn't balk at it as long as it is within reason (they never really tell him no). Just look at the support staff at Alabama. That's a lot of cash being shelled out to coaches.

Tom is going to want total control of the ship so that he is able to tap into the resources he will have at his disposal.

He will get total control and support, as long as he follows NCAA rules and wins. But don't mess up the uniforms!
Herman will not get "total control." The value of the UT brand is too great to entrust in the hands of any one person, especially one who has no real experience in many aspects of the program. They won't let him do things like cancel the Nike contract and switch to UA. They won't allow him to have players arrested and not discipline them. They won't allow him approval of his staff's contracts. They won't let him do a whole lot of things.
Herman may get a lot of discretion, but total control isn't happening. No public university will allow an employee to be unaccountable and to act without oversight, or without proper checks and balances.

The control comes from an administrative aspect, such as overhauling the academic support team.

Herman knows exactly how much Patterson f##ked Charlie. There is no way Herman is going to risk having Perrin replaced with another Patterson.

If I was Charlie Strong, as soon as I was done meeting with Perrin and Fenves tomorrow, I would hunt down Steve Patterson and beat the ever loving hell out of him with a baseball bat.

I agree with Duke. Word on the street was Strong wanted to make some big name hires but Patterson wouldn't open the wallet. Thus we got who we got and we all know how that turned out.

I'm hearing that coach Strong may not be out just yet, everything basically hinges on this meeting tomorrow, but Charlie Strong and his staff believes there's a chance he stays and it was never indicated to them by Perrin or Fenves that Charlie's job was on the line this year. Basically all he had to do was not lose to Kansas and he would've return, all the other stuff was just talk that I think was perpetrated by the Austin-American statesman and other donors . But yeah fenves has a good relationship with strong and his staff so he understands all the challenges that faced this team so there's that hope that Charlie Strong can make his case for another season. Just wanted to pass along to you guys what I've heard recently

That interference should have already been met with hostility... How do they not realize they are doing more harm than good?

Winning immediately is about the only way I can think of that would put the donors on their heels.

If the next coach comes in and wins immediately any interference by the donors would be met with hostility by the alumni and fans.

Just curious. Who did you hear this from? How recently do you hear it?

Now, my personal opinion is simply this. You cannot give a man 36 months to turn a program around. I feel like the pressure placed on this team this year should've been reserved for next year. I don't think that you can argue that this is a much more talented team than what Strong inherited, but in all fairness theres absolutely no excuse to losing to Kansas .

In year one coach Strong had a senior team and you saw how well that defense played, but you can't win with swoops at QB

Year two was just a big clusterf##k full of blowout losses, he had a very young team with inexperienced upperclassmen.

Now this year those blowout losses turned into close losses so and the next logical progression is that next year we should win those close games then 2018 is when we start to become dominant.

With all that being said I can't argue with those of you that want him gone because of last week but man you can see how close this team was

I don't want Herman unless he's bringing Aranda with him. My top choice would be Dabo Sweeney or even Chip Kelly just because I think his offense with the talent we have here would be pretty scary . I also wouldn't mind Les Miles because I know he would kill it in recruiting here. Just my two cents

I have a source who is currently a part of coach strongs staff , and I talked with him about two hours ago
Well that trumps my source who just reads the internet a bunch

If its Herman he better Bring a DC who can coach against the spread in the BIG XII because they can stop them in the AAC!!!
