is it still your opinion that Saban will be the next head coach at the University of Texas? if not what has changed since your post on Dec 23- Merry Christmas- SABAN?

My personal opinion is and has been its always been on the table, but I am not sure if goes down. Its well documented I think there are multiple candidates who could do the job well at this university.

BBdude, McPhaul, Shaunsters, MBHORNSFAN, and the rest of the crew will respond if they wish.

In closing, I strongly encourage you to read everything and form your own opinion. Share it if you wish.

Saban is going to push for an absolute firewall with Mack that might prove difficult to negotiate with Powers. However, he is convinced the more Mack fights and pouts, the more it plays into our hands. It is a done deal from financial perspective but negotiations are still going on about some other issues including Mack's role. He is still confident that these issues will eventually get resolved.

Thank you for your inquiry tspenc123.

I'm on the record that I do not believe Saban will come, but I will happily eat crow if he does. I do believe we'll get one of our top 3 or 4. I'm also on record as a Briles fan, but I don't think he will come either. I do have level 2 info on Briles from multiple friends and none of them think he's leaving Baylor because he's happy there and not keen on life in the bubble.

Hate to disagree with Horn Sports but I think the Saban ship has left the UT harbor. Just think there are too many negative factors in play that will piss off Coach Nick. I hope like heck that I am wrong .... I genuinely hope I'm wrong.

Briles can live like a king in Waco for $4M a year, the fans and alumni are happy with 8-4, and he doesn't have to put up with nearly as much BS. Baylor is his program. He ain't going anywhere.

This has always been my take. No info backing it up, just my gut feeling.

I believe this to be correct.

Baylor will take 8-4 all day long and hopes for playoff appearances.

Briles is a hero in Waco. $4 million a yr is just fine for a Texas "good 'ol boy".

He could retire with his name on the field, stadium, athletic building or something like.

He would just be the next coach at Texas. Nothing more.
