Question about Heard

Heard appears to be an elite ath, I have not seen much of him, other than the all star game and the state championship game on TV. From what I have seen from him he will probably step on to campus and prove to be the most dynamic runner of all the QBs on the roster. My question is about his arm talent. I have read that he is further along in the passing game than Swoopes when comparing the two at point. Swoopes has a big arm, but is raw, I am guessing that Heard is not as raw? Could those of you who are more familiar with his overall ability comment, thanks.

I watched heard at the elite 11 camp and he can make most throws where swoopes struggles with most throws under 10 yds and it seems like he struggles with accuracy in general, remember swoopes played 2A high school football, heard played 4A but played very talented 4A & 5A teams and had success and he just wins games

Given the unknowns, maybe Heard should be moved to DB.....

That's a joke, by the way

I pray that Heard gets to redshirt and Ash can make it through the season. That would be huge IMO.

Is it possible for Swoopes to redshirt this year? I'm not sure if I've ever heard of a player taking a redshirt year after playing a year, unless it was for an injury. Would help Swoopes catch up and Heard could back up this year.

I believe that Swoopes can red shirt, not 100% on that though. I think it isn't likely that he rs, you have to think that he and Ash will petty much split all of the reps in spring. Overstreet may see plays at Qb this spring even though he could be better utilized at another position, but they will need him to take reps for the sake of the other QB's arms. Because of the reps that Swoopes will get in the spring I don't really see a way that Heard plays next year..unless Swoopes just turns out to be a bust at the QB spot (I think he could play elsewhere even if he is not a QB possibly TE).

Honestly, I think everyone needs to tap the brakes a little on Heard. We are blessed to have Heard, if he comes, and he projects as a future starter. But, gosh folks, he is a high school senior and D1 college football is another world. Should I mention Garrett Gilbert?

If Ash returns and remains healthy, we have our QB for the next two years. The only way this could change is if Swoopes simply takes Ash's position away through superior skills. Heard will and should RS his freshman year and the only way he starts his soph year is if he proves to be superior to Ash and Swoopes.

If things work out properly, we will finally have the depth at QB we have needed for the last 7 years.

Coach Strong has to be ecstatic with the abundance of talent he will have. I can assure you he has never seen anything like this at Louisville, even with Bridgewater.

I may be wrong about this, but I don't think Swoopes can now RS unless it is an injury RS.

A player can redshirt at any time as long as they haven't used it previously. However, normally they stop redshirting after sophomore year unless an injury happens because the odds are that they wouldn't play if they had to redshirt that late in their career. A&M redshirted Brandon Alexander for his sophomore year after he played his freshman year.

Maybe swoopes can play DE he has the size and speed remember Strong talking about his DE on Louisville Smith was recruited as a QB and strong turned him into one of the best DE last year he had like 12.5 sacks. Just thought II'll throw that out there.

Swoopes does not strike me as that kind of physical player..he may very well be, but I think his talents are probably best suited for the offensive side of the ball. I mention TE because of his size and speed, but also because Big 12 tight ends are just big Wrs that find soft spots in the hook zone area and run up he seam on cover two most of the time. I doubt he would be asked to take on impact defensive lineman if they played him there. I hope that he stays put at QB, but I am not sure. He appeared so tentative in the very limited playing time that he has received.

I wonder if Overstreet, Daje & Estelle will not be able to participate in off season work outs and spring works?

Ash will be the QB for the next 2 years and then Heard. Thank You and Hook'em
