HornSports has confirmed that Blinn Junior College quarterback Logan Vinklarek has committed to Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns. Vinklarek will be a preferred walk-on this Fall.

In his freshman season, Vinklarek appeared in 9 games and threw for 485 yards. He completed 35 of 65 attempts and had a 3:4 touchdown/INT ratio.

Before playing for the Buccaneers, Vinklarek played at La Grange HS, where he was a standout baseball player as well.

He's a really smart kid too and one heck of a baseball athlete.  Adds nice depth to the position.

Logan will be a "preferred walkon." Kid is really smart and a student of the game. With the qb position behind ash shaky at best, this will bring much needed depth. Kid just wants to do anything he can to help the university win football games. Lunch pail type attitude work ethic. A strong type of kid. Bleeds burnt orange also!

I'm assuming he's a scholarship player who's enrolled in summer session 1 and has 4 yrs. to play 3.

Very little available on him but this is what I found. As a soph. he was 1st team all district QB and passed for 2202 yds. & 20 TDs. Apparently, fell off a little his Jr. yr. (91-170-7 int. for 1250 yds. & 14 TDs).

Going into his sr. season, Texas Football had him at 6'2" & 225, 4.8 40. They said this about him: "pro-style QB who is No. 7 in his class and a sure-fire college prospect."

His last season at La Grange he was district MVP.

He seems to have fallen thru the cracks in recruiting but wanted a chance to play big time college ball. So, instead of signing with a smaller school, he went to Blinn to keep his dream alive.

He's a smart kid (top 10% of his class and NHS) who, hopefully, realized with hard work and a little luck he'll get his chance.

This is the only decent film I could find and it's his sophmore season.

This....good post drift

Checked my back copies of Texas Football and found this.

His Jr. yr, he was listed in the Top 100 Juniors.

His Sr. yr, he made the Texas Top 30 QBs.

he wasn't offerred by ANY D1 school ? anyway, perhaps the kid is a late bloomer. nothing to lose by having him come in

Splain something to me Lucy .. . .

If he was 35 of 35, how did he have 4 INTs?

:P
