...at least once, as per the national vs worldwide media!

whenever one is granted the glorious opportunity to attend the UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS he / she should in various forms, display a bit of gratitude...  at least to some minute degree.  before this most momentous occasion, that is THE MASTER'S...  little did i know about the quiet and yet formidable talent, that is jordan spieth.  upon acquiring the knowledge that this talented golfing hero is also a "ut alumna" this really made me take note, and to absorb his competition fully.  not only was i completely impressed with his overall composure under such dire competitive circumstances...  but by the way he seemed so often very poised.  this shall be in lieu, of being such a young individual, competing under the glare of the national vs worldwide media.  however, i have but one request as per mr. spieth...

raise your horns up!

In my opinion, if you're going to be competing for the Masters or any other professional golf tournament, your mind HAS to be focused on one thing - golf.  If he was there flashing the hookem at any point before the end of the tournament, I'd be worried.  And I'm sure his mind was in far other places at the end after losing that two-stroke lead to lose the Masters.

He'll have his opportunities, but I don't fault him one bit in this instance.

I actually got Bob Estes to do that at the 1999 US Open at Pinehurst (NC).

He sank a long putt, got a polite golf clap for it, reached in for the ball, came up, I yelled "Yay Bobby!" (I had been drinking alittle).

He was slightly surprised since the applause had died.

He looked up and somehow picked me out of the crowd around the green.

So I flashed the Horns Up.

What else could I do at that point?

He did it back, and smiled large.

That was it.

Great little moment.

i see your point lukus, and of course you are correct.  however, it's not like i was wanting for "jordan" to perform as  though he as at a ut football game...  not in the least.  jordan spieth, is first and foremost a professional golfer, and one would expect for him to perform as such.  nonetheless, just like you, i have had the opportunity to view many of his one on one interviews as per various media, leading up to and during his "masters" competition.  one would be inclined to think that at some point, just a simple "horns up" or even a subtle "hook'em" upon the conclusion as per an interivew, would be the ultimate gesture of respect, towards the institution vs culture from whence he came.

just like the people of alabama, stating "roll tide" during just about every point of discussion...  this is nothing more than just a natural token of endearment.  not to mention, it makes your fans love you more.

Sorry, I just humbly and respectfully disagree.  I bleed orange like the rest of us, but we've gotta have better things to do than complain that Jordan didn't flash a hookem during the first and arguably most important major of the year.  I never saw Crenshaw flash the hookem during his wins nor did I see Kite flash the hookem when he won the 92 US Open at Pebble.  It doesn't make them any less of a devoted Longhorn and is just a silly thing to comment on in my opinion.  I'd be a lot less surprised if this was a critique of an Aggie on tour by his or her fellow Ags   since they don't give a crap where they hoop and holler with their gig em crap.  Sorry but we're a bit classier than our little brothers to the east.

Ben Crenshaw did indeed flash a Hook Em Horns at his first Masters win...I have been inside the ropes caddieing a few PGA events and all you have to do is flash the Horns and Ben will smile and gladly flash em back...In fact when he was here in Vegas representing the Senior Tour in the Wendy's The tour Challenge he wore burnt orange and when he went to change undershirts between rounds he was wearing an Austin High school T shirt...

I worked for Barton Creek CC for a short time after the '99 Ryder Cup and on display in our trophy case along with the Ryder Cup replica is a staff back with Ben's sponsor and a Bevo logo on the front, just like the ones on Justin :Leonard,Phil Blackmar,Mark Brooks,Harrison Frazer, Bob Estes,David Gossett, and I think Johnathan Vegas staff bags...Longhorn Pride runs deep on Tour (exception is Tom Kite),never seen him in burnt orange or with anything remotely Longhorn on his equipment

So he didn't flash the hookem at his second win and that makes him less of a Longhorn according to some on here I guess.  My point is these are great and supportive Longhorns.  Flashing the hookem at a tour event or a major doesn't make them any less of a Longhorn.  I was at the Players Championship 3 yrs ago when Leonard was in contention and Sunday as he walked to the first tee, I yelled "Hookem Justin" and flashed the hookem to him.  He looked over and kept on about his business.  I guess I should blame his poor final round on the Longhorn Karma Gods.

funny story about Justin Leonard, a few years back when he was single we took a few of our friends out to the LVI (Las Vegas Invitational) and one tall brunette female friend wanted to know how to go about meeting him..We told her to wear her hottest halter top to show her new enhanced breast implants and threw a windbreaker on her to hide her from everyone...We then went to the practice tee and then had her take off the windbreaker flash a smile and Justin came over faster than a tom turkey comes over to a plastic decoy during the spring season...he shot 4 over par that day guess he lost his concentration on the 38DD
