It seems that Haines had some things to say about the dedication and preparation of the team for the game vs. TCU.  He didn't mention any names specifically, at least in the part of the PC I watched where he spoke.  It was not a rant.  The media is portraying it differently, with some even saying what we saw was not the entire portion of his PC, and that Haines was made available to print-media for a longer period of time.

Anyone care to expound on this, and possibly shed some light on whether or not this happened?

I'm not taking this as fact, but Mike Finger, (and others,) are saying this was how it went down.

I'm sure current recruits and their parents are saying WTF. Other coaches are going to have a field day recruiting against Strong.

Haines has made several comments in the past about the FR (not just about preparation and practice).

It's pretty obvious what's going on here. The FR are doing their own thing and sure as hell aren't going to follow the lead of upperclassmen like Haines.

People wanted a culture change.....welp here it is. Deandre McNeal's last sentence sums everything up perfectly.

If the Freshmen aren't preparing to play the way you have to in college, then it doesn't matter how good they are. We are lost.

Looks like Charlie crapped and fell back into it by making the Freshmen feel like God's gift to football and throwing the upperclassmen under the bus.

Its time for the President and the acting AD to call the big money guys in and put an end to this cluster .... NOW.

Red McCombs was right.......

We are getting raped in Dallas.

Haines is one to talk. He should go watch the game tape of his performance in the ND game. Also, based on what I saw during the Cal game, I'd rather take my chances with Vaccaro.

Quotes from Haines:

He said players needed to put in the extra time to try to get things turned around.

“Extra film, extra preparation,†Haines said. “If you look at how we are playing, we are just making too many mistakes. I don’t think it has anything to do with the game plan. We just aren’t executing.â€

Haines said that the defensive backs began to put in extra work after practice on Sunday, but that some players were hesitant to attend.

“If you don’t want to take part in the extra work, and we’ve had some people, and I’m not going to name names that are hesitant to take the extra work because it’s not required,†Haines said. “The coaches don’t know about it, it’s players only. So there’s no punishment if you don’t go. We are just trying to get everyone there now. Once we get everyone on the same page we will be on the right track. It’s mostly younger people because they don’t know the way of how you have to work at this level. We are just going to try to get them on board and finish this season out strong.â€

Haines continued to say that “any freshmen on any team,†are going to want to do things their own way.

“But you have to understand at this level, everything that happens on Saturdays is a direct result of the work you put in during the week,†he said. “We just have to get that attitude throughout the whole team and get better.

“They just want to go out there and play. That’s with any freshmen at any college, you are recruited out of high school and you don’t have to watch film in high school if you are recruited at that level. You don’t have to put in extra work because you are just so gifted. So they just want to go out and play the game on Saturday. They don’t want to put in the work on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We are trying to get where everyone, 100 percent of the team, is going out there working as hard as they can and just stealing reps in practice. If you are on the sideline, take a mental rep. We have to do extra to get better as a team. We have to improve.â€

We need VY to go slap the dog **** out of those Freshmen players who are not preparing to play on Saturday.

Charlie has been saying this in his pressers, but since one can't understand what he is trying to say, we have been missing it.

Go back and listen...He says." yada yada you know the the Freshmen just want to go out and play...yada yada"

"We have no leadership fro the upperclassmen." Thats what he is talking about. So Haines is just repeating what Charlie is saying.

While Haines is probably speaking the truth, and maybe he's even speaking for Strong, this crap needs to stay in-house. If the freshmen don't want to participate, you go drag their asses out of their rooms and take them to the practice field. You don't call them out in a presser. What happened to the unity this team had with Boyette supposedly leading them? Where is the senior leadership? Duke Thomas? JGray? Santos? Anybody?

Haines calling out other players.  He blew multiple assignments especially backside support when Jenkins was covering that quick freshman receiver.  One of which resulted in a long TD.

it would be hard for me to follow most of the upperclassmen on this who can`t perform during games, if i was a freshman. i`m sure the younger players do need to study and prepare better but when the lights come on they are the ones making plays. gaining experience is about on-field experience and the tedious off-field experience the older players are supposed to lead vocally and by example but our older players are very limited talent wise and you can`t lead from the bench which is where almost all of them belong. Texas needs a full blown youth movement because the veterans are veterans of blowout losses and blown assignments

Ironic that the dude getting blown away in the backfield is complaining about the work ethic of the freshman players leaving him in the dust.

I agree, it is ironic, but at the same time it is coming from someone that was not recruited, did not and does not have the talent of the others, but got there by hard work. Haines is where he is at because he put in the extra work. He is the Rudy of this team. He is the one that knows the preparation it takes to overcome the deficiencies in talent. If I was a talented freshman, I would be listening to this guy. Just my 2 cents.

I respect Haine's work ethic. I just don't like him going public about work ethic when he's playing among the most poor on the defensive side of the ball. And when he's talking poorly of players who are outperforming him. Your story only gets you so far and you taint it by trashing teammates in public. In addition, given all of the reporting about how hard Malik and some of the other freshman were working this year, I question if he's not thinking of a select few freshman. Rather than all freshman.

i don't think he blew assignments.  i think he doesn't have the talent level/speed to keep up with his assignments, i.e. the corner is always on an island.  gone are the days where we see michael griffin getting to the receiver the same time as the ball.
