PK OUT, MUSCHAMP IS BACK

I'm watching Kilgore and Stephenville play. Not sure who will win, but I noticed one thing that has irritated me all year. Kilgore defense plays more discipline on sealing the edge (we old timers call it containment) than PK defense. The Eagles DEs last year in the Super Bowl gave a textbook technique on containment and sealing action inside or into the pocket - not allowing action outside and extending the play. This and Champ's eye for detail is why I'm excited about Muschamp's arrival.

I've got to say this is stunning to me! If a coordinator needs to be fired - it's the offensive coordinator. Our defense have been better than our offense upon Sark's arrival and it hasn't even been close. I have to think that maybe they weren't getting along?

What I'm about to say will get pushback I'm sure. Muschamp had two years here before, and one of them was horrible. We fell in love with his caged tiger act on the sideline more than anything. In my fan experience at Texas, I'd take: Robinson, McWilliams, Chizik, Ash and Fuller over Muschamp. Just my opinion...

I view this as highly questionable. But he's the coach and he's probably better at it than me. There must be more to this than performance.... there has to be; right?

EDIT: Upon further review, Muschamp spent three years at Texas his first run.

2008 = Great! One could make a case that this was the best defense at Texas under Mack Brown.

2009 = Very, very good. Perhaps not quite as good as 2008. Good enough to be in the National Championship game.

2010 = Dreadful.

One could view this several ways:

* MustBchamp is a great coordinator, who spent 2010 prepping and interviewing for head coaching jobs because Mack Brown and Sally decided to stay and turn it around.

* MustBchamp got worse and worse the more Chizik's influence wore off. All sizzle, no steak!

* That was 15 - 18 years ago. It's all irrelevant. Who knows what we're getting?

Mack has admitted he got lazy after the 2005 NC year so some of that may be on him. We also had Gilbert at QB, a friend of mine from Lake Travis told me he had issues while playing there.

I'm willing to give him a chance. At this point, do we have any other option?

Me too. I personally prefer his style of defense over PK.

I do think he's often remembered so fondly because of his sideline antics; not actual production. Listen closely to people gushing over him and I think you'll agree. It's almost 100%!
