OT: Xbox One or PS4

Have a PS4, love it. Have had every Playstation since the first. Love the exclusives on it (Uncharted, God of War etc...). I was contemplating getting an Xbox One also, way back when they were first announced, but the whole DRM thing kind of turned me off to the Xbox. That and the fact that its performance isnt as good as the PS4, and becuase of its use of ESRAM, its much harder to develop for (words straight out of Developers mouths). That and I LOOOOVE the PS4 controller.
Yeah the DRM move by MS was not a very bright one! Pissed off a lot of folks!

Alouha27, I had a friend, he has been diehard Xbox since the first one. He refuses to buy a Xbox One, because of the fact that Microsoft can turn that DRM right back on with a system update. He said he wont own one until MS gives assurance that will never happen, and since MS will never give that assurance, he isnt going to buy one.

The ironic part of that was that Sony actually originally came out with the idea of the DRM and had originally planned for it to be on the PS4. However they decided to wait until Microsoft announced their plans to see the reaction. That turned out to be an incredibly brilliant move. Don't get fooled by Sony though, they have always been one of the most propriety oriented businesses out there. If they thought they could get away with it they would. Microsoft will not go back to the DRM, unless Sony does. As dumb as MS has been about some things they know that would be suicide at this point.

As for paying for online features. Both actually do that. However Sony has a bit more free online features than Microsoft. Although that will change over the next year as they are going full steam ahead with the PSN (their version of XBOX Live). Microsoft is far too locked down at this time. Also what pisses me off on MS is that they got rid of the family plan on XBOX Live so you literally have to get XBOX Live for each account that you want to have online access. Now since both my kids are under 10, that is not a big deal as I would not let them have it anyways. However it is still a dick move.

Both want to own your environment though. Sony really pissed me off on PS3 when they locked down the alternative OS feature that many people bought it for. SO both will try to screw you in the end. Right now SOny is trying to look like the good guy, but they are not. They just happen to be going against a dunce in the media marketing department.

Yeah that's a compelling argument. Was kinda hoping one of my buddies would get the XOne and the other the PS4 and then I could make my decision after playing both. My wife was going to get me whichever one I wanted for Christmas but I chose the iPadAir instead.
