OT: Richard Sherman's article on the Crabtree interview

Exactly. It's an intense game. It's emotion and chip on shoulder, something we haven't seen a Texas in awhile

I thought for sure he'd do something smart and come out from a public comment like this looking better. Nope.

Last night after the interview I looked him up on Wikipedia for something. Somebody had edited his page and it said "Richard Sherman, a piece of human garbage, was born..."

: If you put a subpar player across from a great one, most of the time you’re going to get one result. As far as Crabtree being a top-20 NFL receiver, you’d have a hard time making that argument to me. There are a lot of receivers playing good ball out there, and Josh Gordon needed 14 games to produce almost double what Crabtree can do in a full season. And Gordon had Brandon Weeden, Brian Hoyer and Jason Campbell playing quarterback.
classic :D

I don't really consider myself an old timer at 39 but I guess people who think sportsmanship has a place in the game - along with unbridled intensity - seem to be dwindling.

I'm fine with that. Football is an emotional game and so much gets said on the field and I can only imagine the NFL in that setting even more so. He just dominated a player that he has issues with and he didnt say anything bad at the end of the game. The guy does it the right way on and off the field. I think most people would be fired up if their child ended up like Richard Sherman

To the contrary, I would be embarrassed if my children showed a complete lack of class like Sherman did. Wouldn't bother me a bit if he broke an arm or leg or got knocked out cold sort of like the Packers did to Fred "the hammer, Williamson back in the first super bowl. He talked shit and got his ass knocked out of the game. Would love to see the same thing happen to Sherman.

The guy is a model citizen off the field, stanford graduate, intelligent and a great player. Does he promote himself? Yes but I think I can give him a pass bc its not a big deal. You though hope he gets hurt for saying Crabtree is sorry and saying he's the best. You got issues

I love his passion and everything, but I tend to think he went a little too far. Then again, those two have had it out for each other all year. I heard on the radio today that the two got in to it at a camp in Arizona during the off season and that Crabtree tried to start a fight with Sherman. If that's the case, I could understand some of his feelings towards Crabtree. Still though, there's a time and a place.

Sherman is aware of his brand, as I tweeted last night, Nike will PAY villains and heroes all the same. Despite football being the new national past time (sorry baseball folks, I said it) the players opportunities to brand and market themselves isn't as prevalent as it is in other sports. They also have shorter careers, which relates in less time available for them to capitalize on their fame. Sherman talks a TON and backs it up. As a result he is recieves a ton of attention, and he is going to capitalize on it. I have seen him called a thug, a punk, and much more..I find it hilarious. Sports are entertainment..he is an entertainer. His act is akin to one that you would find in the WWE. Fans of football need to realize that the persona that they show on the field is only a small part of who they actually are. Sportsmanship..I really think this word is thrown around too much. Look..what is said on the field isn't nice, guys say some of the worse things you can imagine to one another...it's all a psychological battle and it doesn't stop when the game is over..those battles last seasons and grow into rivalries. I was okay with the whole thing. It entertained me..I don't have any children yet, but when I do will make sure that they appreciate aths as aths, but I will make sure that they understand that these guys are not your role models..that just isn't what they are paid to be..

Johnny Manziel fans wholeheartedly agree. I just don't like it. I don't think it makes him a bad person, he just acted like a dumbass after the game. No biggie.
