Here is an article quoting one of the other owners of the San Angelo Coach's Clinic, Mike Martin.  Don't remember seeing it cited in this thread, but since this thread is six gadzillion pages long, I have no intention of going and looking.  Seems to me that what can be taken from all of this is that Longhorn football players just might have to learn to listen faster.  Hmmmm!  Maybe that will make practices and meetings more efficient.

Clinic owner on ESPN piece critical of Charlie Strong: ‘I smell a rat’

By Brian Davis - American-Statesman Staff

"Mike Martin, who helped start the Angelo Football Clinic four decades ago, said he’s never felt compelled to explain anyone’s actions at the event, which attracts high school coaches from all over Texas.

But Martin, one of the clinic’s four owners, said he read an ESPN report that criticized Texas coach Charlie Strong’s appearance at the clinic, and 'I smell a rat, I’m afraid to say.'

In an article published June 25, ESPN national college football reporter Travis Haney said that Strong spoke in rapid-fire sentences and that those in attendance weren’t impressed.

'I think everyone was shocked. It was that bad,' one anonymous coach was quoted as saying in the ESPN piece.

Haney also observed that Strong left immediately after his 20-minute speech and did not stay to meet and greet those in attendance. Haney could not be immediately reached for comment Tuesday.

'He got down here earlier,' Martin said of Strong. 'He met four or five groups of high school coaches at a local steakhouse. Then they got here, picked up their badges, had some pictures made with the registration ladies and some other people, and then he did his 20-minute talk.'

Martin said he took photos with a group of coaches from Mexico and even one with Martin’s wife.

Martin said he actually cut 10 minutes from two other coaches and basically squeezed Strong into the speakers’ lineup. Martin said organizers knew Strong had to leave immediately afterward to catch a flight to Florida to attend his daughter’s volleyball camp.

'He’s kind of a powerful looking man, and he talks with a lot of power,' Martin said. 'He wants to get his point across. My eyes were open, and I’m looking at his demeanor and his stature and trying to listen to what he says. Yeah, he does talk fast, but I think he was trying to get a lot in for 20 minutes. He talked loud and clear for 20 minutes.'

'You can tell he was speaking from the heart and there wasn’t any fluff about it,' Martin added."

By the way, no offense meant to J.B., but the above image was from a "comic strip" series of images over at ShaggyBevo and was created by THujone.  If you don't go over to ShaggyBevo once in a while to check out THujone's work ,,, well then you should oughta.  He creates some pretty funny stuff, and it is free.  This particular series of images follows,  It is entitled ...

Thanks Bud!  That's hilarious!
Every time I see THjone's work I think to myself,  "Self!  You have Photoshop, Painter, and a crapper load of other graphics illustration software.  You once made a living creating artistic architectural illustrations of architectural projects, and you got a wicked sense of humor, to boot!  Self!  You should oughta set out to create some creative sports imagery with catchy story lines like THujone!  Then, I look at the consummate artistry required to create that leg and arm line work, and I see the creative color choices necessary to create that wizzwork  ... Then I think.  No!  Self!  Your work is here, using words, at HornSports!"
