OT: best baseball movie ever???

Long Gone. Has one of the best characters ever, Cecil "Stud" Cantrell.

Great movie!! Too bad HBO's shelved it without sending out to DVD. Teller is hilarious!

The Natural (who cares if Glenn Close is pretty or not, the story was amazing. I still get chills when I hear the music associated with a Roy Hobbs home run. Also tons of symbolism with light/dark, good/evil themes.

Bad News Bears for comedy. I was about the age of those players when it came out. Walter Matthau was awesome.

- Never saw For Love of the Game (BTW, shouldn't it be For THE Love of the Game?).- Major League was great.

- Loved The Natural...and I have to disagree on your take of Close. I thought she was very pretty and fit perfectly as the sort of anti-Kim Basinger.

- Hated, Hated, HATED Bull Durham. Crappy storyline with quite possibly the ugliest lead character ever in the history of all movies. Sarandonwrap ruined it.
It's "For Love...", not "For The Love..." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0126916

And agreed. It won't ever win awards, be heralded as a mainstream baseball movie but Barry Pepper did a hell of a job in 61*. One of my favorites.

Who cares if Sarandon or Close are hot? Go look at porn if you are looking for hot women. I liked both of those movies.

Dazed and Confused could be a baseball movie. :)

The Natural is a very well made movie. Great soundtrack, great sets and costumes from that era, lots of attention to detail, plus a great story that happens to be set in baseball. All of the little things in that movie add up to make it the best baseball movie to me.

Another damned good movie that had a heavy influence of baseball was A Soldiers Story.

If you judge this by how many times you have watched the film, then for me it is between --

(1) Moneyball; and

(2) Badnews Bears

I think I may have watched Moneyball 10X and read the book twice.

And I dont know how many times I watched the various Bears movies.

This scene is the end of the movie so you might not want to play it if you've never seen it but plan to --
