A buddy of mine and myself got into this convo after talking about the HOF voting (yada, yada, yada)... And I proposed the question...what is the best baseball movie? Y'all's thoughts? There are some common sense choices...but I am going with The Sandlot...yes the Sandlot...over The Natural, over Field of Dreams, over Major League

Sandlot is awesome. All the others you named are good too.

Eight Men Out!

Bull Durham was great and so was Eight Men Out...but I will argue that from just a pure love of playing baseball that it is hard to argue against Sandlot

I opened this thread thinking nobody would say Sandlot. By far the greatest IMO. It brings back so many childhood memories down at the park on Cherry st.

Field of dreams was ultimately about a father and son's relationship (which I don't know anything about...4 daughters). It was hard to go against FOD and The Natural though

Not saying it's the best baseball movie ever, by a long shot, but I sure like "For Love of The Game".

Have to at least mention that one, Augie was in it.

I'd send a vote for "42" The Jackie Robinson story. Not that it was greatly acted, but it was a truly great story.

Like SFG, I'd throw in "A League of their Own." Not for Madonna though. Gena Davis and Tom Hanks stole the show in that one, IMO. Hanks scene yelling from the dugout "are you crying?" was classic. "There's no crying in baseball!"
