Oscars! Paging lsampson

And Matt says, Hook 'em!

just kidding, but he will when we go to the National Championship Game, sooner rather than later, right?

Huge kudos to DBC, it was a great movie.

McConaughey's speech started and ended great, but in the middle it come off as awkwardly lacking in humility. My hero is always myself...???

Anyway, another Oscar for UT!

Yea, thought the same. Happy for Matt but thought Leo earned his due. I hope he wins one soon!

I didn't take it that way. My perception was that his hero is the person that he is striving to be, but will never become. For a moment, I was concerned he was saying exactly what you thought he was, before he explained that you can never be satisfied with the person you are. He said as much in the closing moments of his acceptance. McConaughey radiates confidence, which is part of his appeal. Without that confidence, he would not be the success that he is. He reminds me of a throwback, a wildcatter. He is brash, but it works for him.

Edit: I can see where you are coming from. In fact, I thought his mother had an uh-oh look on her face when he began that part of his acceptance speech.

Think you really missed his point. .. . .it's about being the hero of your own life. . .looking internally for success not externally (coveting others) . ..

I linked the speech below. . .people can decide for themselves. . . .
