OK, just let me say this 1st...I KNOW it's Apples to Oranges. After reading the thread about How Saban would leave a loaded cupboard, I did some amateur research on OOS recruiting.
I know Texas blows the state of Ala out the friggin door when it comes to a recruiting base. Lots of factors that influence the rosters of both teams so, that's why it's Apples to Oranges.
However, out of 107 players on their roster (including walk ons) Alabama has 70 from out of state...UT has 11, if you include the DE fro Saudia Arabia and the Kicker from Scotland.
Alabama has recruits from 18 states...UT 6 (and 2 countries, neither of which are known for their prowess of college football).
Alabama goes coast to coast from California to Connecticut. We could say the same...Swaim is our surfer boy and we have a walk on from Mass.
Alabama has players from 7 states that contribute more than 5 each w/ Georgia leading the way with 19. They include Ga (19), Fla (10), La (7), Tx (6), and Tn (5).
Again Apples to Oranges...but my take is that his staff will have connections to a lot of states that produce National Top 100 talent, something we don't currently Enjoy.
Btw, our biggest contributing state is Oklahoma...
Man, that was fun...anybody need a part time research assist?
