One player-parent perspective on the program/Strong

I talked with the parent of a 4-star recruit and current player on the Texas team tonight.  The parent told me he's very happy with Strong, as is his son. They are both disappointed with the lack of playing time, but happy with the staff.  Reiterated his son loves his teammates and the University - very happy with the academics at Texas.

On the Texas program, the parent said this:

"I think it's going in the right direction and think it will be a much better team next year."

This parent is close with a lot of other player-parents and says he hasn't heard a lot of voiced displeasure with Strong and the program.

If his son isn't getting the playing time they feel like he should next year, then they might consider transferring - with no hard feelings.

Bingo, McNeal was promised "the first pass against Notre Dame"....but now it appears to be a true cow/calf scenario. Oh well, was very worth the COW!

One of the other sites also claims to have had a conversation with a UT parent and the word that stuck out was "disorganized."

Sounds like we have not got all the entitlement issues out of the program yet.

Truth but maybe the coaches shouldnt promise recruits the first pass in their first game.
I think thats probably been blown way out of proportion.  I'm sure it was something that was joked about - but Strong has been a coach a long damn time and I doubt he's going to promise any kid playing time.  The opportunity - sure, but not a promise.

As for the tweet - I really don't see anything wrong with it.  Doesn't come across as entitled as I read it - but i can certainly see how people can read it differently.

nvm wrong thread

My points is it seems we still have a some players who just expect to play. I'm sure the coaches have a good reason why they are not letting them. Or maybe they don't and that is why some are about to be fired.

It was not Ketch it was Eric at Inside Texas.
That was posted on another site and attributed to Ketch.  Ketch apparently copy/pasta the Nahlin bit below his own comments - at least thats was explained on another site.

If anyone has a screenshot that would be awesome.

If McNeal could be a factor, don't you think he'd be playing? They are obviously playing a lot of other freshmen. I've coached a lot of baseball over the years, including a high school summer team the past 4 years. Our motto is probably the same as Charlie Strong's when it comes to who plays and who doesn't: If you want the job, go take it. Nobody's going to give it to you. When you get the opportunity, don't talk about it, seize it.

I think Foreman has done enough to "seize" the lion's share of rb carries. How has that worked out?

Folks, the player in question is not McNeal. FYI.
