Plus...of course...there's the alleged video of Sumlin stumbling drunk...that's gone viral (to some extent). I've watched it a half dozen times, and I can't say with any certainty if it's Sumlin or not in the video. It's terrible quality. Nonetheless...it's creating a lot of smoke.

Yea, someone names him in the video, which in itself isn't proof BUT someone else is calling "Spav! Spav! Spav!" in it. So there's that. lol

Back to Kyler Murray and his being so unhappy and that he told his OC to "eff off" (or something to that effect) when he got pulled out of the Alabama games after throwing an INT. Rumor is that he's very upset because Sumlin has not lived up to the promises that were made to him late in the recruiting process last year. Further speculation that...if not for the promises made by Sumlin...Kyler was in fact coming to Texas and bringing Mack and Lodge with him.

NOW...assuming all of the above is true...do you think that Charlie made any promises in an effort to get him to switch his commitment??  I doubt that Charlie made promises but I do suspect he laid out a favorable prospective starting QB situation. BUT...in hinsight,,,now that we see the blow up at aggie land...and this whole thing about Kyler telling his OC...to F off.....or go get effed......did we dodge a bullett? Would Kyler have been a good fit for Chalir Strong..or would he have been a distraction in the locker room?

My thought is...if Kyler could have delivered Mack to us...it would have been worth it. Mack is just about as good as I've ever seen playing as a true freshman.

And lastly, in the highly unlikely event that Kyler wanted to transfer to UT now, would Charlie welcome him?

We have our QB and the team is rallying behind him and the 18 Wheeler..We also have Buechele and Ehlinger in the pipeline.

Good luck to the kid and his Pops, but The Charlie Train has left the Station. 🚂🚂🚂

I would like to think the only promise Strong made to Murray was that he would have every opportunity to earn the starting job.  When coaches start making promises other than that, then they are setting themselves up for problems.  In regards to Murray, I do not see this situation improving for Sumlin.  As long as Kevin Murray is in his son's ear, I do not see Kyler respecting the decisions of the coaches.

No but Augie might.  ;)
That would shock the absolute hell out of me.  I don't see it happening.  I'd could see him transferring to a JUCO somewhere, then take his chances in the draft after playing his Soph year there.

Charlie would not promise anything, and ironically, it was Sean Watson who held dad's interest the most I've been told. But yea, it was that close. Kyler was coming until Sumlin started singing all kinds of promises, not just the one Kyler is ticked about.

I thought benching Kyler after an INT was a bad move regardless. IMO, you gotta throw a kid right back into the fire when that happens. But I also think it was out of line for him to throw down the FU, specially in front of all the team.

The whole thing has blown up in their faces and seems to be affecting the whole team. Bad time for Allen to get his head lost in the clouds.

The Hubenak kid is who everyone wanted Charlie to go after. He's not bad, but he's not very good, either.

I'm not sure all that is worth getting Mack. Mack is what we thought, but he's playing for a team thats headed south, fast.

It's funny. Aggy fixed their defense and now can't find their offense. It was the other way around for so long. lol

Hell, no, making promises to Murray wouldn't be worth it - even with Daylon Mack on board. We don't need me-first prima donnas in the locker room. He's not better than Heard - or Locksley, or Buechele, IMO

With all this going public Stumblin can't cave in to Murray. And his fallback starter has a bum shoulder and can't hit the side of a barn. He is screwed.

Can somebody post some of the stuff on texags
From someone named cancer boy

Very similar talking points from last year but everything I'm reading over the last 16 hours; KM, spav, divided locker room, possible drunk Sumlin in public, makes me think we're about to implode on a whole different level... (Serious)

My prediction:

Sumlin is going to cowar down to the murrays and kyler will start and see substantial playing time from here on out. Murray will start against South Carolina and aggy will look like they saved their season and the team. I think the issues are more deeply seeded than that but on the surface things will seem better after the string together a few wins against nobody's.
