Oh Aggy.

Wow, what a disgrace to himself, his family and all the fine folks associated with agricultural & mechanical college of Texas.  Out of the NFL in one year or two depending on how you measure.

Think about this.  Manziel grew up wanting to play for UT but Mack did not recruit him. Despite his heroics at aggy and the Heisman, Mack and UT dodged a bullet.  Kind of like Ryan Perrilleaux or however you spell his name.

What a black eye JF would have been to our program and UT.... thankfully aggy gets to live that down.

You say that like aggie has any self-awareness or shame. We're talking about people who put made up championships on their stadium. And people who make up some over-romanticized, heroic story about a bench-warmer.

No, I fully expect aggie to erect a statue of this media-created, self-absorbed punk. Good CFB player? Sure. Heisman-worthy when you factor in character? Hell, no

Good point J.B.

Despite my hyperbole calling aggy "fine folks", your right, most aggy has no shame or self awareness.  Most only have some weird sense of entitlement, delusions of grandeur and some self loathing.

Many aggies are fine folks until they don the maroon & white, congregate, and commence nut-squeezing & whooping. They're most definitely delusional about their athletic achievements and their football program, in particular.

I promise you, A&M's population is 50% level headed and ethical people.  Their problem is like the U.S. being high jacked by the politically correct left leaning lunatics.  TAMU has been high jacked by the sophomoric and moronic Corps.  Even though the Corps is now only a small part of the school, the so called traditions and BS antics still guide the schools delusions and have brain washed most of them into thinking it is honorable.

Remember, the bulk of their freshmen have aggie parents that are fully vested into the BS.  Their kids have grown up with a burning and unhealthy hatred for all things UT and a delusional and brain washed opinion of aggy.

Even our own aggies, Mike and Joe who have been nothing but congenial on this board, will tell you this is what they believe.

I'm all for school loyalty, but at some point we have to lay childish things aside.  I admit, there are plenty of Longhorns that have not, but it appears the aggys wallow in it.

I think the rule is  -- many aggies can be "OK" one on one.  Even getting to the point of being friends.

However, everything changes once two or more of them are allowed to be together.  That's when the aggy in them will always come out.  It can't be helped.

Indeed. I have a couple of aggies who are really good friends.

My hope is in time they will finally redirect their angst towards LSU and Bama. I believe the process has begun, but it's not very satisfying for them because SEC fans & alumni aren't impressed by aggie. If anything, they take A&M even less seriously than we do.

Yup, I have personally experienced that with aggy co-workers, acquaintances, neighbors - when one or more are together, especially if adult beverages are being served.

Example of a very decent aggy:

One of my best friends of almost 30 years is an aggy. Both of us are from Ft. Worth, but did not know each other until the business world in Dallas.  He is pretty grounded about aggy and has never been obnoxious or arrogant in any way to me or others about anything a$m.  He is the only exception to the rule that I personally know.

I don't know any exceptions to the rule. That's why it's a rule.

http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/tamu-football/speedy-noil-suspended-at-end-of-spring/

I'm not going to speculate why but from following his recruitment I'm pretty sure why.

Speedy was already caught in a car with marijuana (although he wasn't charged for some reason). What's it going to take for Speedy to actually miss some game time?
Stumblin Sumlin's discipline is a joke.  I read the entire article.

UT hires Strong and Smart, even an Aggie friend acknowledges they were 'good' hires.  In most knowledgeable circles, they are considered homerun hires.

Sumlin suspends Speedy for 2 weeks of Spring Training.  Really?
