We will update things we hear in this post all weekend so be sure to check in.
I actually heard this a couple of days ago but Texas got a silent commit this week. It won't be announced for a bit, but we confirmed with multiple sources and the recruit himself that it happened.
Reports are out via Orangebloods that Marcel Southall and Isaiah Chambers might be in town this weekend. Strong and the staff are putting together a hell of a PR effort right now on twitter. Most guys are en route or just checking in but we will see how things are going and come back here to update.
==================
Update Sunday Night:
We will have full predictions out in Burnt Ends but I've got some odds and ends here from the end of the visit weekend.
Tope Imade - We spoke to Tope this evening and asked him for some thoughts on the weekend. He said that everything was perfect and he'd rate the visit a 10 on a scale of 1-10.
Favorite part of the visit: "Hanging out with Coach Strong and Tyrone Swoopes. They were the most genuine guys i've ever been around".
Imade did lots of recruiting on this trip including a ton of time with newest Texas commit Zach Shackelford. He was hosted by former high school teammate Edwin Freeman and mentioned that he really enjoyed hanging out with Patrick Vahe. Imade feels Vahe and Connor Williams will be incredible mentors for him in the future.
==================
Davion Curtis - We spoke with one of his family members who described how the visit went down. According to our source, Curtis stuck closely with new Texas offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert. Gilbert of course used to coach at Temple and Curtis still runs the same offense Texas will install. Gilbert and Curtis went over hand signals, audibles, and play terminology to determine if it was still the same. Gilbert also told Curtis if he hadn't been offered when Gilbert was hired he would have been the first target. Both Curtis and Gilbert also pulled Reggie Hemphill in to learn the offense. Reggie was very excited about the role he could play going forward.
General Notes from Sources:
* All players went through academic sessions to make sure there were no eligibility issues.
* Stephon Taylor really enjoyed his visit. The staff really blew away the parents and showed them a lot of love.
* Lil'Jordan Humphrey was told he'd be used all over the formation. He could be flexed out at tight end or on the outside in the red zone.
* One player said the whole weekend felt like a big family reunion and he couldn't remember a better time.
* There are some really positive vibes on Chris Daniels right now. I don't know how far it will go, but several people mentioned to me that they could see him flipping.
* Brandon Jones and Deontay Anderson hung out with Dylan Haines and watched a ton of film. Both players were getting a pitch on how they could immediately play.
* Gilbert and Mattox told all of the recruits that all spots on offense were a clean slate going into the spring. The players also spoke with Greg Fenves who affirmed his support for Charlie Strong. It all went a long way to help any stability questions many of the recruits had.
