Let's get this going today.  Game 2 of the 3 game set vs UNLV will start at 2 PM CST.

Texas will have Ty Culbreth on the bump.  He will face UNLV's Kenny Oakley.

The Horns will need to put together a better effort in all phases of the game to get back on track.  There were defensive miscues, too many walks and far too many runners left in scoring position last night.  It's a new day, so let's see what the staff does to correct these things.

The only lineup change is Tres moves to DH and Cantu will be behind the dish.

While Texas scattered 8 hits last night, they had several opportunities to push runs across late in the game and failed to do so.  Several players put good swings on the ball, Gurwitz, Mathis, Cantu come to mind, but they couldn't find a gap.  UNLV's Keyon Allen made a spectacular diving grab of a Patrick Mathis hard liner into CF, that likely saved the game for UNLV.  If he doesn't make that catch it's at least a double for Mathis.  Great play.

The Texas pitching staff did show some bright spots, but too many leadoff walks put them in a position to bear down early in the innings.  Those need to be cut down.  Leadoff walks are killer.  11 Walks, 11 Ks.

UNLV pitchers were far more effective with 2 Walks, 11 Ks.
