1-2-3 inning

Horns trail 9-0 headed B6

 B6

Stanford gets a 2 out single but that's all they can muster off of Whelan.

Pierce gets ejected to put the icing on the cake today.

Horns trail 9-0 thru 6

We're in T7 with 2 down, Bryson Smith up to bat PH for Ford.  He's got a 1-1 count, and are in a LIGHTNING DELAY.

That's ballgame folks.

Horns fall in a rain-shortened game, 9-0

Well sounds like I picked a good weekend to not pay attention and go to the National Beep Baseball Association spring board meeting. From going back and looking at your Twitter @joeywa Pierce might have been a bit displeased with balls and strikes today and was probably ready to get out of dodge. Kind of knew that a weekend like this was coming to be truthful. Got to get the catcher back for Tech don’t want to get lost in the shuffle especially when it’s at home.

Young team on the road against a very good team.... This will help them later in the season.. But man that was an ass kicking.

Without a doubt. Losing your starting C midway thru game 2 is not ideal. Get back on the horse and forget about the weekend. This is a new week for these kids.

My thoughts exactly. It was the perfect storm. No pun intended. I actually got to see most of this (and hear it).  A few of my thoughts:

1) ESPN, LHN, does a much better job with camera angles. LHN actually looks and sounds professional, while this production was a snoozer.

2) Thank you Lord for Keith and Greg.

3) The officials should have stopped play when the downpour started and the infield should have been covered. We are fortunate we didn’t end up with another injury. That infield was a skating rink.

It looked like the entire field drained to the infield. Home plate was a mess.

4) We are going to have games like this, hopefully not with an incompetent crew in a downpour, but when you have young talented players, you play them, if they are the best.

They make mistakes, hopefully they learn from them, and they don’t make the same mistake again.

5) This team is going to look much, much different at the end of the season if they stay healthy. I can’t wait to see it.

Growing pains hurt!

Hook ‘em!

Thanks, Joey. Was the camera misleading, or did this field drain toward home plate.

Whatever, they need some serious drainage work.

Just saw some of the pics from twitter. I’ve been around the game a long freaking time and that is the most horse shit excuse of a playing surface I’ve ever seen. Holy crap I’d have pulled my team off the field and gone to the bus and told that umpire to stick it up his ass. Holy crap you wouldn’t play a damn little league game on that. I’ve always loved that we play that west coast series every year but I’d never go back to Sunken or use that umpiring crew again.

So, we always cancel our Cox TV for the summertime because we are never around to actually watch anything on it. Is there a LHN app or any other way to watch? It'd be great to be able to watch (or listen) while I'm rolling to and fro.

It does seem to drain towards the backstop.

It was crying shame the way that Sunday's game unfolded.  John, you're exactly right.

Here are a couple of tweets I made, one in-game, one later last night.

It was a very bush league way of handling the inning. I'm not saying it would have made any difference in the final tally, but that inning took almost an hour and the rain stopped for maybe 5 minutes the entire time.  Additionally, the ONLY maintenance that was done on the field was some quick-dry on the front of the mound and around home plate.  The remainder of the IF was left to be a soupy mess.

This was a concerted effort by blue, (and possibly Pac12 and Stanford, who knows?) which created a distinct advantage. The more I replay things in my mind, the more I think this is the case.  Once Texas was able to get 3 outs, the game was paused for total field maintenance.  Unbelievable.

It was clearly a safety issue, and we are lucky there were not any injuries sustained. Add to that the bogus "lightning delay" (there wasn't lightning on any of the lightning charting maps any closer to Palo Alto than 1,800 miles) and it is an awfully bad look on a school and a program that is supposed to be classy. Sorry, but that's my 2-cents, and I was in the press box. The Stanford media folks in there were equally stunned and sat there in silence.

Add the things I mention above to everything else that was going on in the game, and it's a wonder Coach didn't get tossed earlier and with more fire.

Couple of thoughts on this question, as it's a bit complicated, (or at least it has multiple variables.)  LHN will only carry HOME Texas Baseball games.  Should Texas play on the road or on a neutral site, and ESPN works out an agreement with the opponent, a game may be shown in this instance.  For example, I recall a game at Texas State a few years back being on LHN, as well as a game from I think Skeeter Stadium shown on there. These are few and far between mainly due to the Home team owing the Tier 3 TV rights.

Secondly, there is a Texas Sports app, which almost always has direct links to Stats, Video and Audio of the games, regardless of Home or Away.  It's pretty handy.  Additionally, you can always go directly to https://texassports.com/schedule.aspx?path=baseball and every game has a link for the aforementioned options there.

Hope this helps.
